Week 25 Welcome to Week 25 of the KidandParent Pregnancy
show. You must be aware by now that morning sickness is not the only thing that nags you
during pregnancy. In this week's show, we will talk about other sideeffects of pregnancy
like forgetfulness, eye blurriness, clumsiness, etc. We will also help you in selecting a
good name for your baby.
Changes Taking Place in Mother Your face might start looking rounder. Skin
may also darken at places. Your appearence will come back to normal after the delivery.
There are chances of urine leak when you laugh or cough due to the pressure on the bladder.
Do not feel bad about it ! This is normal during pregnancy. Cold ice packs, firm mattresses
and good postures are good ways of minimising the back pain or a condition called sciatica
when your baby’s head presses against the nerves in the lower back and legs. You may
also consider physical therapy if your doctor approves of it.
Make sure to start your immunization schedule right now if you have not yet done yet.
How is Baby Doing ? The baby's spinal structures and blood vessels
in lungs continue to develop. Layers of fat have developed and his skin is no more transparent.
The baby's brain is developing. He can differentiate the various sensations, observations, thoughts
and emotions. His bones become harder and his finger prints are completely formed. The
baby starts showing his preference for a particular hand at this point. Your partner can hear
his heart beat if he places his ear on your abdomen.
Side Effects of Pregnancy You experienced morning sickness at the start
of pregnancy. That has almost subsided now. But you still feel very forgetful and clumsy.
Your eyes are blurry. Well, this is nature's way of telling you to slow down. Your body
is busy preparing for childbirth so you should slow down to accomodate the changes taking
place in your body. As you already know. hormones are the real culprit behind all this.
Tips to Overcome the Side Effects 1. Ensure a healthy balanced diet.
2. Eat a large number of smaller meals throughout the day which help you maintain a steady blood
sugar level. 3. Avoid spicy food that can cause indigestion.
4. Include a lot of yogurt in your diet. 5. Take rest whenever you feel tired and keep
a pillow under your head. 6. Maintain a relaxed state of mind.
7. Do not consume alcohol. 8. Reduce the intake of caffeine.
9. Go for a walk every day and breathe in some fresh air.
Can I play with my dog during pregnancy ? Dogs are considered man's best friends and
they bring lots of joy and happiness to their owners. While playing with your dog, remember
not to let the dog jump on your belly. You should also not allow yourself to be pulled
by the dog while taking it out for walks.
Names for Baby You are halfway through your pregnancy. It
is time to look for a name for your baby. The name you choose is going to stay with
baby forever. Some parents like a modern name for their baby, but others prefer traditional,
religious or family names. You should choose two names for your baby, one in each gender.
Tips to Choose a Good Name for Your Baby 1. Discuss with your spouse what kind of name
you both would like for your baby. You can decide upon a traditional, modern or religious
name. This will help you narrow down your search.
2. Choose between common and unique names. A common name may make it easier for others
to spell and pronounce your child's name. But it can also make it difficult to find
the "right" Anil among the six Anils at school or workplace. A unique name can help your
child stand out. However, such a name can be difficult to spell and pronounce. Your
child may have to get used to being addressed the incorrect way.
3. Give due thought to the meaning of the name.
4. Try saying the name out loud and analyse how it sounds to your ears. If you are planning
to use two names, it is ideal to keep the first name shorter than the last name.
5. Understand the impact that the name can have on the baby as she or he grows up. Try
avoiding names that may result in your child being teased or made fun of by peers and others.
6. Eliminate names that can result in forming embarrassing nicknames.
7. Give your child a gender specific name. Some names are ideal for both sexes. But such
names can confuse others to determine the sex based on a name.
8. Reduce the chances of names with initials that spell out oddly.
9. Make sure that the baby's first name and last name put together do not sound like a
tongue twister like Sushila Shashtry. 10. You can use online databases that provide
a wide range of baby names for you to choose from. At KidandParent, we have a vast database
that helps you choose a name based on numerology and also the baby's birth star.
It is normal to leak a few drops of urine while coughing or sneezing.
