New talent
Learning
Opportunity
BT recruits apprentices within the HR department because they believe it's a better way to bring new talent into the business, to develop skills that the learners need and for the future of BT.
They bring new talent and they bring energy and synergies to the business.
They're enthusiastic and they're willing to learn new skills and it helps the lifeblood of the business.
HR apprentices provide a number of different benefits, primarily around mentoring and coaching for the people that are in the team. They get to up skill themselves.
Our apprentices get involved in a lot of reporting and analysis work. They get involved in projects on resourcing, performance, building workshops.
I started my apprenticeship a year ago. Before my apprenticeship I was studying A levels in Business, Psychology and Geography
The reason I chose my apprenticeship was because it gave me the chance to learn and earn at the same time, which was a big bonus.
I really enjoy the HR sector. There's constantly something new. It's quite diverse, it's really varied. There's loads of opportunity.
In five years time, I'd like to still be working for BT, and hopefully work in the specialist HR role.
Apprentices bring a different perspective to an idea that's come up in a team, bringing in the skills in resourcing projects that they're doing as part of their qualifications, and bringing that into an organisation.
The aspects of my apprenticeship that I really enjoy the most is bringing it straight back to the workplace and being able to apply what I've learnt.
I would recommend apprenticeships as it gives you both on the job and off the job training, and gives you great experience for your future career.
Apprentices within BT complete their apprenticeship and stay within the business.
A number of apprentices go on to be managers within the different departments that they work in
