Hi! My name is Andy Stohl and on behalf of Expert Village, in this clip we will be discussing
how to maximize our lower scoring letters such as vowels and other commonly used letters.
Don’t forget to check out my work at www.strohldigital.com. Okay so we are going to discuss how to maximize
the smaller letters or letter tiles like g’s, e’s, o’s, all vowels t’s, r’s, s’s.
If you maximize these early in the game and turn couple of these tiles into larger 20
point words, you will be able to really excel at the game. So let’s take a look at the
board and see what is going on. As you can see how this is the board, these are my tiles
here. As you can see they are all very low scoring tiles. They are all 1’s, so we are
going to show how to maximize these lower scoring tiles and that is by combining the
tiles to make multiple words. As you can see here, I am going to place this word one right
here by using 2 tiles. I will able to formulate 3 words. This gets a little confusing with
scoring so let’s go through it slowly here. I formed the word go. That is an individual
word and that is 3 points. I then formed this word here 1 and that is 1, 2, 3, 4 points.
That is 7 points total. Notice I used that 1 twice because it is using 2 separate words.
That is 7 points total and then I go here 8, 9, 10, it’s on a double letter score
and I use the k for me. That is 15 points, so you could see by just using 2 letters that
created 3 words and you can score anywhere between 10 and 25 points that way.
