Ahh Ouch!!
my eyes, My face! , Don't hit me...
"" Former Detainee "" In the begin , they detained me on the 16th March 2011
after the second attack on the Pearl Square
"" Former Detainee "" I was in Salmanya hospital after I got injured
I stayed there for a day
at night one of the mercenaries came and pulled me from my bed and *** me to the 6th floor
at the time all detainees were taken to that floor
three or four of them interred our room
we where six of the injured in one room
they were closing the curtains on us one by one and you just here the screams
when your turn comes you know what was happening behind the curtains
they came to me; I got slapped and kicked several times while I was on the bed
and that continued for two nights onward
they come at 10 pm insulting and hitting us
the third night they took me to an unknown place and they placed me on a bed
and they came to take the pipe in my chest out after they opened the stitching
I told the doctor or whoever he was , please put me under anesthesia as I couldn't stand the pain
he replied no need!
i was screaming from the pain
all of that was happening while I was innervated
I asked them to remove it they said they don't have orders to do that!
I told them are you doctors or police men?! we want to know where we are!!!
they said you don't have to know, and shut up and never talk again
I stayed around 6 nights going over this blind folded we don't know anything and we see nothing
we don't know about the time ?! we don't hear the call for prayers we knew nothing!!!
I was handcuffed in the bed with one hand and the other hand was having the Intravenous in so you cannot move.
"" Dr. Saeed Al-Samahiji - Ophthalmology Medicine Specialist "" When I got detained in 1984 in one of the GCC countries
I got tortured a lot
like hits on the feet base until it bleeds
and I couldn't walk on the ground
they were also burning my body with cigarettes
but this time the beating was concentrated on the head
that's how I got a brain hemorrhage
the techniques they used in torturing me in the CID center were a lot
like beatings with clubs, pipes and bamboo sticks
I even got electrocuted
they were also forcing us to stand for long hours on our feet
they also kept us in a freakingly freezing chiller room
that the human being can't stand
and they tried to prevent us from sleeping all the times I was in Adliya CID center
"" Rula alsaffar - Former President of the Nurses Association "" The techniques of torture were the same and systematic
we all went through the same way of torture
through our relation with other detainees we used to set and compare what happened to each one of us
the main ways of torture they were using against us
First is forcing us to stand for long periods with our eyes blind folded and our hands cuffed
keeping us in a very very cold place especially during winter times and they force us take off our jackets to make it worse
beating with slaps, hoses, on every single part of our body, but they concentrate on the head
because the bruises cannot be seen
another way was using the electronic shock baton
they bring it near the ears , you can imagine how the sound of a flying bee could annoy you, then what about the sound
so They bring it near the ears on both sides and they turn them on
and of course because you still being blind folded, you still could see the lights of the sparks it makes under the blindfold!
they burn the hair with them too
once one of the police woman was telling her colleague: I believe we burnt her hair
she still order her to continue to do so with full impudence
I am the father Abdul Majid Abdulla Hasan a Former Detainee
I got detained more than three times
during the second time I got detained on the Martyrs day on the 17th December
I got detained in Manama Market around 5 O'clock
there might be some clashes but we were interring the market
I saw a group of civilians from the police department detaining a very old man
so I tried to free him from their hands
while I was trying to free him those civilian from the police department insulted me
they asked me to get away or they will pull me to the ground
but my dignity didn't allow me to step back so I freed him
after that one of them hit me from behind and brought me down to the ground
then he pulled me from my pants built and pulled me on the ground for about 3-4 meters
they were kicking and beating me and each one of them was trying to get a part of me like I was an animal
I was telling them I am and old man is it the way you treat me he replied you deserve more than that!
after they cleared the area from the photographers of the international media
they kept me in a corner and they continued beating me brutally all over my body
until I lost the feeling in my body
the glasses that I could see with they smashed it with the ground and the marks are still there
and you could see the marks I had while they were pulling me on the ground
then they took me to Manama police station
"" Zahra Mahdy - Member In Bahrain Center for Human Rights "" at the beginning if we want to talk about torture
we should distinguish the ways of torture the security systems use in Bahrain
the first type is the physical torture
and it contains all different ways the security systems use
like beatings and all deferent ways of hanging that we mentioned in our report in parallel to Basiouni report
the second type is the psychological torture
lately we discovered through the documentation we make in Bahrain Human Rights Centre
that they use lots of ways of psychological torture it was clear in the case of the detainee Ahmad Humaidan
they made him think that they were executing him
they gave him a bottle of water and told him that it has a bomb and it will explode
so he was suffering from a bad psychological state after he signed on his confessions.
the third type it might not to be considered as a torture it is the inhuman and degrading treatment
it begins at the time the person gets arrested until the end of the the investigations
and sometimes it continues even in detention
the Human rights watch report "Resurrection of Torture"
that was issued in February 2010 and before February 14th revolution
it has names of 6-8 personnel involved directly in torturing Bahraini detainees
unfortunately those personnel are still in their positions and sadly some of them were promoted
since the beginning of 14 February revolution till now and according to the report of Bahrain Centre for Human rights
that contains at least 150 personnel who were involved directly or indirectly in torturing issues
those involved personnel are unfortunately protected and supported by the regime and Bahraini rules
on top of them is the law56 which was issued lately by the ruler of the country Hamad Bin Isa
which gave legitimacy to what those torturers are doing and made them protected from punishment
"" Moh'd Sultan - Bahrain Center for Human Rights "" the torture was systematic and brutal
the torture was in constant intervals, in synchronized timings and in the same technique
a person was coming at the midnight with his military shoes intend to step over our toes and to kick us in the lower back
this is a sample of the systematic practices of the midnights
it is systematic as it was happening in constant timings in the same exact way
what Martyr Zakareya Al-Ashiri went through we were being blindfolded
which make you lose your mind for sometimes and start hallucinating and seeing weird things
I went through it and most of the detainees went through it in the CID , I spent alot of time in the CID
I personally expect that the state that Zakareya Al-Ashiri have gone through
and pushes them to *** him he went through it in the dry dock prison
where he begins to say weird things
like: "policeman I want my wife, I can hear her calling me, I will just see her and come back"
mercenary soldier comes with his Indian or Pakistani accent telling him "Shut up you donkey"
after a while he tell them "Policeman give me a vacation for two days I will go and comeback"
policeman answers with the same accent "you won't shut up, we will make you to"
a group came inside and beat him, I can not say how many were they as I was blindfolded
he was yelling with one word "Thanks God" whenever they hit him he say "Thanks God"
policeman repeated "you won't shut up, we will make you to"
they left for 2-3 minutes then they came back in a bigger group and started to hit him
he continued his words "Thanks god, Thanks God" they boosted beating him
I believe that and it is what I have witnessed in front of Bassiouni commission and also in front of the court
I believe that I heard a sound of a bag or newspaper or a paper
I guess they suffocated him because after that sound the "thanks GOD" voice was muted and all I heard was ...
after seconds or minutes a Pakistani said "Margeya"
what should I say really?! all that torture and the detention
didn't gave me else than insistence and determination
like I promised the kids of the Martyrs and their families we will never return back and we will stay on our promise..
we will not leave the squares for whatever you do whatever you do to us, either you detained us or freed us from detention
we are united in the squares and in detentions and our goal is one until we meet our demands!
