Altrazeal offers three-dimensional wound care that not only fits the wound, but fits the
needs of patients, doctors, nurses and wound care specialists. Altrazeal is a transforming
powder dressing using Nanoflex technology to promote an optimal wound healing environment.
Altrazeal consists of a sterile white powder that hydrates on contact with wound exudate to
form a dressing that fills and seals the wound and provides intimate wound bed contact. The
scale and proportion of Altrazeal particles provide optimal oxygen and moisture vapour
transpiration, as well as microbial impermeability, tensile strength, flexibility, and an environment
that supports cellular function and tissue repair.
Prior to wound dressing, a wound plan is necessary. The plan should consider the health of the
patient, aetiology of the wound, wound preparation, dressing selection, and frequency of dressing
changes. Wound bed preparation and cleansing prior to dressing is essential. Only a clean
wound can heal rapidly. Use surgical debridement or a debriding agent to decrease bacterial
load and devitalise tissue. Remove contraindicated products, adhesives, vapour-retentive dressings
and petroleum- or oil-based products. These products may prevent Altrazeal from aggregating
properly. To apply Altrazeal, peel open the blister
and pour the powder so it covers the wound cavity. The amount required will depend on
wound depth, size, and amount of exudate. Smooth the powder with sterile gloves or an
appropriate instrument to even the distribution of the powder. As the powder absorbs the fluid
it will begin to aggregate and transform into a strong, flexible, protective dressing. If
the dressing has not formed within a few minutes, spray or drip sterile saline, or a wound irrigation
solution onto the powder to facilitate transformation. Mist or drip the solution near the wound margin,
allowing the droplets to settle into the powder. More powder can be applied to the wound if
required. Altrazeal does not necessarily require a secondary dressing, it can be used under
negative pressure therapy and compression bandages. If a secondary dressing is deemed
necessary, only use a non-adhesive and vapour-permeable dressing over Altrazeal.
Altrazeal can remain in place for up to thirty days, as long as the wound produces exudate.
However, the dressing should be changed if clinically necessary. Altrazeal will remain
in intimate contact with the wound surface as long as exudate exists, or until the skin
heals. As the wound heals, Altrazeal will flake off, similar to a scab. To remove Altrazeal,
saturate the dressing with saline for three to five minutes. Altrazeal will become soft
and can be gently lifted away from the wound bed with forceps. Importantly, Altrazeal does
not adhere to the wound bed, or new tissue. The wound should be regularly checked for
signs of infection, irritation, inflammation, excessive bleeding, or excessive exudate.
Remove and reapply the Altrazeal dressing whenever it is deemed clinically necessary.
Altrazeal is a unique transforming powder that creates a three dimensional wound dressing
to promote an optimal wound healing environment. This unique dressing is already transforming
lives. Altrazeal fits into the wound, fits the needs of the healthcare professional,
and fits the needs of the patient. Altrazeal Transforming Powder Dressing. The three-dimensional
