Think you’ve got it all appwise, iPhone users? How about a native Gmail app that works
offline anytime, all of the time? Ha. In your face, iPhoners. While you’re prodding away
in Safari, BlackBerry users can sit back and tap into a standalone Gmail app.
Gmail Mobile supports both regular Gmail and Google Apps accounts – and you can switch
between multiple accounts via the menu. Recent messages are cached for offline reading and
it will sync in the background, so you don’t need to remember to manually update before
going off grid. You can compose messages offline, and they’ll send automatically as soon as
you’re back in coverage again. You can access all your usual Gmail features
– like starred items and labels and search will trawl back through everything on the
server when you’re online. And if all that’s not enough, it will even update the icon when
new mail arrives so you can see at a glance if there’s anything you need to attend to.
Do you now see what you could have won, iPhone fans?
