MATT DILLMAN, PGA PRO>> Hi, my name's Matt Dillman, head golf professional here at Thousand
Hills Resort in Branson, Missouri. We're sitting here, talking about the short game today.
I found the perfect example of "rough". What you want to do to get out of this rough, I've
got my most lofted club, my 60 degree. This rough is very thick and gnarly and the ball
sinks down. I don't know if you can see it or not, but my ball is down there. I'm going
to show you what I do to get out of this rough when I do get into it.
First thing I'm going to do is aim for the big of the green because you really don't
know how this is coming out of the grass. You don't have to aim directly for the pin,
you're just trying to get it onto the green. Secondly I'm going to open the club face to
add loft to help the club get up. And of course, it's going to be taking a lot of grass so
you've got to swing a little harder. Let me see if I can get this first ball out.
That one turned out pretty well and normally I don't take a divot like that. That ball
was sitting so far down there was no way I couldn't. I had to go down and get it to pop
the ball up. Hopefully that will help lower your score!
