The 2011 Baja Kansas Engineering Design Competition is just around the corner. Pittsburg State’s
Baja Teams have their pedal to the metal trying to complete all the various tasks before the
May 26th kick off, and Jake Lampe knows we’ll be ready. Jake Lampe-“We’ve got the course
pretty much laid out as far as that goes but as far as the cars go, we’re looking alright.
We’ll make it, one way or another, we’ll make it.” It was announced late last year,
that Pittsburg State University will be the host site for the first Baja competition in
2011 and as President Steve Scott said that day; this will again bring national recognition
to Pittsburg State University. President Scott-“Well, this puts us right where we want to be and
that’s in the national and international stage and I think that’s what’s so exciting
about this project.” It’s speculated to bring thousands of spectators and over one
hundred Baja teams both nationally and internationally to Pittsburg Kansas. And for Pitt State’s
Baja teams, they can’t wait to hit the course and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Jake
Lampe-“Real excited. I can’t wait till we have it, it’s going to be so much fun.
I just can’t wait to see all the cars here too and see how bad we can break them.”
The competition will be held May 26-29th on PSU property located east of Rouse Street
near the Kansas Polymer Research Center. It’s open to the public and Pitt State encourages
everyone to come witness something truly unique to the Pittsburg area.
