I think math is all around us. You can find many different venues
for where you can apply math. Math, it's such a beautiful thing.
There is a clarity of thought, there is an order of things
and there is a beauty in formulas. We offer a lot of interesting courses.
If you compare Columbia College to a different private four year school,
you wouldn't be able to find as many courses, such as:
cryptography, introduction to complex variables, which you probably cannot find somewhere else.
The atmosphere which exists here, a close collaboration which exists between
faculty and students. We observe how students progress
from very low math to a culminating experience. Excellent students, they are so appreciative
of the good things which I usually deliver. Math, it's a combination of Science and Art.
There is the Science obviously, formulas, arguments, postulates, theorems
and there is Art, beauty in shapes and again formulas.
Not everyone can see it, but those who see appreciate.
