The PrestineBlue chemicals are a very good chemical. This is the actual blue which is
an algaecide and bactericide. At initial start up we used 2 ounces per 1,000 gallons. This
pool is about 15,000 gallons so I am going to treat it as if it were 14,000 gallons so
I will be putting 28 ounces of the PrestineBlue in this pool. I am going to do this right
now and then we won't do anything else for two weeks and when we come back in two weeks,
we will measure the PrestineBlue. We will add so many ounces to top off of it but the
first thing we'll do is we'll shock with a nonchlorine Prestine power, 1 pound per 10,000
gallons and then we will add 2 ounces of Prestine clean. Once you get your water balanced, this
metal control will help keep it balanced for you and then once we add the clean, we are
going to add the PrestineBlue again and then that's all we'll do for two weeks unless it
rains or the debris falls in the pool because you still have to do your weekly maintenance
which is brush the pool, vacuum and swim of course but as far as backwashing you only
really need to backwash every two weeks unless it rains a lot and you have to take a lot
of water out of the pool. But right now we are going to go ahead and I'm going to add
my 28 ounces of the PrestineBlue and we will be set for 2 weeks. I'm going to pour it like
this so that you can see.
This cup only goes to 16 ounces so we'll have to add more. Be careful not to spill it.
I always like to rinse my cup out really well. They have an allergy seal on these chemicals
in the United Kingdom for people that can't swim in chlorine pools, they use the PrestineBlue.
I always like to add everything around the perimeter around the pool, that way it gets
mixed up really well.
