You didn't use a cell phone?
No!
Oh, okay.
I just looked at it.
The thing is I'm not texting, I'm not talking on the phone.
You're not allowed to use or touch your phone.
Does the law say that?
That's what the law says.
People don't realize how much they get focused and how much it really does
distract. Even if you're at the red light you're looking down at your phone and
you're manipulating the screen and you're looking at anything.
Now the cycle
goes from a red light and it goes through a green light and you don't even
realize it. The guy behind you honks the horn
you then hammer the gas
If you're just in a live lane of a traffic or you're stopped
whether it's a red light or you stopped at a stop sign then you can't be texting
and using your phone.
I thought at a stoplight you were okay but I as you informed me, I am not.
It's got to the point where distracted driving has surpassed
impaired driving for fatalities and for accidents causing injury.
It scares me actually.
I don't want to be walking with my own family and have somebody that's so
distracted that they miss the red light or the stop sign.
Mobile ones are the ones that I really like to get because to me they're it's
more of a danger. If they're at a light and they're stopped and they're
really distracted sometimes I'll notice them like you can see their head or
their hands and you're not 100% sure and then you drive up alongside them and you
start looking in like oh now I see it I don't have to get them moving but if I
get them moving it's just a little bit more evidence.
Sometimes you'll just see them they'll do this
then they'll put it right back I might just let it go.
In reality that's breaking the law but when they grab this and they start you could
see you could look right at it and say oh look they're looking at Facebook or
they have iMessage open.
Now he's moving still has it in his hand...
As you picked it up in your hand you already broke the law and
then when you started flicking with your thumb.
I wasn't talking to anyone.
You don't have to talk to anybody.
That's the perfect example of somebody
saying 'No I wasn't on the phone, I have bluetooth'.
He was clearly on the phone
but it comes down to him and I. So he gets his opportunity to take it to court.
So the ticket will be four hundred ninety dollars and three points.
He's G licensed driver so he doesn't get suspended. A G1 or G2 gets an automatic
upon conviction 30-day suspension.
So the charge is driving with a handheld communication device.
It's four hundred ninety dollars and three points.
I just touched, like that.
I was stopped.
You're not allowed. That's what it's all about.
You're on your phone you don't happen to notice the crossover and then somebody's
on their phone they're too busy and they hit somebody.
That call will wait
people will still be there when you're done
just leave that phone.
