Hello, and welcome to the first episode of ENN TV. I'm Christina Holden from the Johnson
& Johnson corporate communications office. In this episode we'll bring you an inside
look at the Healthy Future 2015 Initiative highlighting the solar array powering of our
campus in Titusville, New Jersey.
We'll also look at Motivation, a creative and resourceful initiative from the DePuy
company in Cork, Ireland. But first our commitment to the community supporting minority, women
and veteran owned businesses. ENN TV's correspondent, Josh Binswanger has more from Princeton, New
Jersey at the new headquarters of Local Wisdom.
Johnson & Johnson partners with a range of diverse suppliers that reflect the patients
and customers we serve and add value by providing innovative solutions to our manufacturing,
marketing and R&D efforts. In the year 2000 four computer science majors graduated from
Rutgers University and formed Local Wisdom, a web design, development and curation agency
with a family oriented culture and a zeal for technology.
This is obviously-- jnj.com's homepage. One of the main things that we've worked on, especially
for the 125 year anniversary is we've built this interactive timeline that allows J&J
to really show their history that they've had since 1886.
You guys have had a partnership with J&J since 2003.
We are, like, a microcosm of their patients and their customers. So we have such diverse
backgrounds that we relate definitely to the products that they well and would be using.
Really J&J has given us the opportunity to meet many different people and spark new opportunities
that has pretty much enhanced our growth. So-- and-- and we're really thankful for J&J
to really-- kinda help in that growth.
A mutually beneficial relationship ultimately bringing value to our patients and our customers.
In recognition of having achieved more than $1 billion in spending with diverse suppliers
the Billion Dollar Roundtable inducted Johnson & Johnson, the first health care company to
receive this recognition, as its newest member. Now we turn to Motivation and how one company
in Cork, Ireland inspired its employees and became a high performance roll model.
We experience what we call the perfect storm effect. And that was where we experienced
a 35 percent surge in demand within one year.
And we found ourselves in a position where we weren't that able to meet that demand.
We didn't have the flexibility in our employees or in our capacity as a plant.
We set about a series of workshops. And in those workshops we asked two simple questions:
What clearly motivates you and what de-motivates you? And pulling all that feedback we created
a core set of five behavior standards. Our first behavior standard: When there are problems
always ask what happened, why did it happen and how can we prevent it, and never who did
it.
The one to me that's very important is listening to people, involving them and appreciating
what they've done.
Yeah, run-- yeah.
Yeah, okay.
And then the final behavioral standard is that we challenge our own and others expectations
of us to ensure that we can deliver on those expectations.
Here's some impressive stats from DePuy. Their change of behaviors increased the company's
efficiency by 72 percent, doubled the output of the site, lowered costs to their customers
and they are now delivering more product to the marketplace. Now, that is impressive.

Another impressive initiative is Johnson & Johnson's Healthy Future 2015. This program exemplifies
Johnson & Johnson's enduring commitment to sustainability and the enduring longevity
of Johnson & Johnson's business. Here's more from Titusville, New Jersey, home of the largest
solar array in the garden state.
These panels generate enough energy to power nearly 600 homes annually supplying 88 percent
of the site's power requirements.
For me it's great to work for a company as-- willing to invest in-- in a project like this
because they know it-- it benefits human health in the long run, you know, with-- with-- you
know, increasing climate change issues that will affect human health. And-- and this kind
of thing really will help us avoid that in the future.
