So, somebody goes to dinner, and when they get home,
there is a completely renovated space.
That kind of blows your mind.
If it looked a little bit better,
she could cook a little bit more.
Jennifer is our mark.
I don't think that they're gonna recognize me anymore.
Yeah. Let's go.
At least.
MATTHEWS: This week, we're tackling
an incredibly sleek, modern kitchen.
We need to be well under three hours,
because we know we're gonna have to troubleshoot.
Ow!
It's worst-case scenario.
You're probably talking two hours.
We're screwed already.
Right now, their kitchen and dining room area -- it's a mess.
Here comes insulation.
We had a few unforeseen surprises.
We got blood already.
We're gonna need you to seriously buy us some time.
We're gonna give these guys the space of their dreams.
No way! I love you!
We need a minimum of 5 1/2 hours for this project.
Someone's about to get raided.

So, our raid this week
is a kitchen and dining room area,
and our mark is Jennifer.
Her husband, Ricardo, has set this up for her.
He is a man with lots of home-improvement plans
but hasn't really gotten to any of it yet.
Nice.
The unique thing about this space
is that Jennifer is a nail tech.
And she has, like, spa nights for her girlfriends,
where they all come over
and she does nails in the dining room.
It's like a spa/girl's night/ dining room area.
Have you ever done one of those?
Like four or five times.
[ Laughs ]
Hey. How you doing?
So, this is our kitchen.
MATTHEWS: A lot of space, nice and open.
She had a lot of plans for the kitchen when we moved in.
She was telling me I was gonna do this, do that,
and I'm saying, "Yeah. Mm-hmm. Maybe. I'll try."
I don't do much that Jen asks me to do,
so this would be a huge surprise for her.
Yes.
We come in, renovate your house while you're out to dinner.
Okay?
That's crazy.
It kind of feels like
there's not really a place to gather in here.
This, actually, is the gathering space.
When her friends come over,
this is the space that we spend time in.
Sometimes, it's a jungle gym for the cat,
and sometimes, it's a nail station.
So, why do you want to do this for her?
This is where she spends a lot of her time,
and I just think if it looked a little bit better,
she'd be more happy.
She could cook a little bit more.
You have ulterior motives, then.
Yes.
So, Jim and I are gonna take a look around.
We're gonna send you away
so you don't hear our wheels turning.
How long do we have, by the way? When is she due back?
A couple hours. She'll call me when she gets off work.
Awesome. So we'll have a heads-up before she's on her way.
Okay, good.
HUBER: 96 inches.
So, what if we monopolize on the built-ins?
Tons of storage.
And then for her, down there, we could do a desk
where she could have her nail stuff.
And these soffits [Knocks] should not be here.
It's one of those things -- Like, they have to go.
But what are they hiding?
And we won't really know that until we open it up.
Should we head out?
Come on in, guys.
Good.
Good to see everybody.
You know why you're here.
You were handpicked to tackle this next raid,
and this project is gonna be crazy.
Our raid this week is a super-modern kitchen,
and this one should definitely prove
to be a unique challenge.
Ricardo is our accomplice.
He wants to surprise his wife with the kitchen of her dreams.
Jennifer, our mark, is a nail tech,
so we're gonna give these guys the space of their dreams
and a space where Jennifer can still do
what she loves on the weekends.
Right now, the kitchen and dining room area -- It's a mess.
All of the cabinets are very worn. It's dated.
So, we're gonna get rid of everything in that space
and start again.
New cabinetry all around.
And this cabinetry is ultra-modern,
high-lacquer cabinets.
We're adding a backsplash that are acrylic panels.
CRAIG: So, what's the flooring?
The flooring is a vinyl, large-panel floating floor.
Should go down quickly.
It should go down quickly, in theory,
as long as we get our layout, and that's obviously
one of the things we want to plan right now.
Now, for the dining room area,
that back wall that has nothing on it
is going to be all built-in cabinetry,
and inside there, right in the middle,
is gonna be her nail station,
and that table will be able to pull out just when she needs it.
Here's a layout of the house.
We have a large garage area that'll work well
for all of our tools and our workspace.
It is pretty tight down there, so there's not a lot
you're gonna get in there, as far as the big pieces.
Those will have to come through the front.
All right, you guys ready to see the skeleton space?
All right.
One of the great things about working in the warehouse
is that we've got this skeleton mockup,
so they can see exactly
what they're gonna run into on the night of the build.
All right, you guys. Come on into the space.
Take a look around.
The guys and I can get in there.
We can feel out the space.
We can look at the pictures on the wall
and try and figure out
what kind of problems we might have to troubleshoot.
Jim's gonna walk through the projects with you guys,
assign the teams.
And I'm meeting up with a spy right now.
I'm gonna try and get as many hours out of them as possible.
Yeah.
Let Jim know if you have any questions,
and he's gonna tell you where you're gonna be.
All right. See you guys in a bit.
All righty.
Ben, we're in charge of that corner.
Andy and Scott, this whole peninsula wall.
Matt and Craig are gonna do the nail tech.
Any questions?
SNYDER: I want to know what soffits are going.
All the soffits are going.
All right, so, we got a lot of cabinets to build.
Yep. Let's go.
MATTHEWS: I'm really anxious about my meeting with Ricardo
and his spy, Matt, today.
Good. How you doing?
I am. I'm Matt.
I'm Amy. Nice to see you.
We're gonna go through the maps.
We're gonna go through where they're going.
I want these guys primed and ready for the evening
so that we can be successful.
We need a minimum of 5 1/2 hours for this project.
Now, we are sending you across town
and literally off of the map.
It's almost an hour out there.
We need to send you far away
because we need to build that drive time in,
but even more importantly,
we wanted to send you guys somewhere special,
and this place is the town in which you got married.
This restaurant is sitting right in the middle of it.
So, this is gonna be a walk down memory lane.
Yeah.
A very long walk down memory lane.
And your spy car is gonna be sitting
in this parking lot across the street.
Okay?
You and I are gonna be in contact all night long.
Sounds good.
If I need more time,
we're gonna enact our one contingency plan.
All right.
I would like to simply lock your car keys in your car
so that a tow truck has to be called,
you guys have to go back into the bar and have another drink,
whole song and dance.
It bought us about a half an hour.
Did you bring your spare car key?
Okay, good.
So, pass it off to your spy.
Do not lose that.
You check in one more time with me
to let me know they're leaving the restaurant --
periodic calls on the hour-long drive home
so we know exactly where we are.
So, how does this all sound to you guys?
Oh, definitely.
All right, you guys. I'll walk you out.
So, Jim, how are you feeling about
the cabinets coming together?
Well...
The moon will be out tonight before we're done.
Yes.
Because of the amount of big pieces going into the space,
our goal for the warehouse
is to pre-build as much as possible.
The good news is that the guys have
all the bases done, all the uppers.
Now they're doing all those little pieces.
All the hinges are going on, all the handles,
the lazy Susans, but it's taking so long.
Yeah, the hardware interfered with the original latch,
so then I went to drill the hardware pulls,
and it screwed everything up.
We have to have all of this finished
because tomorrow, we have to do our entire dry run-through.
We have a lot ahead of us, and today --
I mean, we're losing light.
All right, guys, get ready to wrap it up.
I love that sound.
Couldn't be any worse.
MATTHEWS: Fast! You guys, move in faster!
Ow!
We got blood already.
We need to gain time in here.
We are way behind schedule.
MATTHEWS: Jim, will you get the guys over?
HUBER: Sure. Hey. Come on.
Morning.
You guys did an awesome job yesterday,
and, obviously, we need to time out this run-through.
I think we wrapped our heads around
how long some of this install is gonna take,
but there's a lot of unknowns.
The first hour is all demo.
Jim, as soon as those cabinets come out,
you can just start your work on the soffits.
The demo of the soffits, that's gonna be all of us.
Yep.
Yeah.
With every build, at the end of the day,
it's all about the unknowns.
We can plan for everything that we can control,
but things like the soffits that we're taking down,
we don't know exactly how long that's gonna take
or what we're gonna find inside of it.
Hour 2 -- You and Ben are working on the cabinetry.
Andy, Scott, you're on the peninsula,
and, Craig and Matt, you're on the nail tech area.
Hour 3 -- The design team,
they're doing a huge graphic on the side wall,
kind of give them some space.
So, I'm gonna start the clock at Hour 2
being that Hour 1 is, of course, all demolition.
Design team gets an hour at the end of the night,
and that means for us today,
we need to be well under three hours,
because we know we're gonna have to troubleshoot.
All right? Let's start the clock.
Yep. Let's go.
Let's rock 'n' roll.
Here we go.
So, you guys are ready to carry flooring with me, right?
Yeah.
MATTHEWS: The dry run is going really well overall.
These guys, they know exactly what to look for
and how to attack the install, and the cabinets are flying up.
CRAIG: This is the wall they're doing that mural thing on, right?
Yes.
We got to get that down as soon as possible
so they can sand on it.
The problem is, is that as soon as we put this down right there,
we have to cover it.
We're gonna have to start from left to right.
So...let's do that.
All right, so you guys are ready for the uppers to go in here,
assuming the soffits are done.
When can the acrylic go in?
We have to have this up and this new cabinet up, too.
We're at the hour-and-30-minute mark, which is actually great.
All the cabinetry in the nail tech station is done.
The lower cabinets are in in the kitchen,
the lower peninsula is in, all the countertops are in.
The one thing that's holding us up right now is the flooring.
It's amazing that it started this early,
but we're gonna need that time,
because it is slower-going than we thought it would be.
Where do you feel comfortable letting the design team come in
and start doing their...
I would say that fourth row.
The fourth row.
Hey, don't forget to add a half-hour
to take all this plastic off.
At least.
I know.
Our cleanup time includes about a half an hour
of us pulling all these little, tiny plastic pieces
off every piece of cabinetry that we're putting in.
Coming in.
Sorry.
How'd that cut? Pretty smooth?
Oh, yeah. Cuts great.
Now, we got to mount the hood so we make sure
we cover the seam that'll sit right here.
So, we're entering Hour 3 right now.
The counters should be done within this time,
and the backsplash starts.
So you're starting Hour 3
ahead of time right now, which is great.
And the flooring's taken almost an hour.
And four people.
I just want to get Kara in here
and help her start setting those design pieces.
We don't know where this stuff goes.
Here. This can go to the nail station.
MATTHEWS: Somebody put those shelves up. Somebody clear the tools out.
One of my favorite parts of the dry run-through today
is watching six contractors try and decorate.
I mean, what is this?
[ Laughs ]
MATTHEWS: So, guys, we are at just under two hours.
We finished an hour ahead of time and more,
because the last hour is cleaning
and getting all this design stuff in.
But what have we learned?
What are the big things
that you guys feel better about now than you did before?
We're feeling better about the flooring
than when we started with the flooring.
Good. Let's start wrapping up for tomorrow's build.
[ Backup signal beeping ]
Okay.
We're ready.
Appliances up front, cabinets in the middle,
tools in the back.
All right, now I got to learn from my mistake.
Watch his shoulder.
[ Laughing ] Oh, my God.
I think I just ripped my shirt 'cause my muscles blew it out.
Yeah, looks good.
Yeah. I'm glad I'm not driving it.
You ready for another raid?
Ready. Let's do it.
I'm feeling a little nervous, you know?
I don't want to blow the surprise.
Put this on like this,
and I don't think that they're gonna recognize me anymore.
Let's go.
Come on!
We got minutes.
DUNN: I'm on my way to Ricardo's house.
I'm excited, pretty much, to get there
and just get this thing started.
All right. And here's their block.
Oh. They're actually leaving right now.
[ Cellphone rings ]
Hello?
Hey, Amy. This is Matt.
They're actually taking off from the house right now.
All right.
We are on the way. Thank you.
We're off.
Ricardo needs to turn this corner very, very, very soon.
All right, there he goes.
I feel like I'm in a video game here.
Trying to stay incognito.
How you feeling?
Well, if the soffits go well, then I think it's in the bag.
Awesome.
But if they go poorly...
No.
I love that sound.
Let's go!
Anywhere you can! Park anywhere!
You going to peek upside?
Okay, so, here's the plan.
Jim is going in to check what's going on in the attic
so we don't pull the soffits and make a mess.
The design team -- Start clearing everything out.
You're staging new stuff in the master bedroom.
Just remember the back bedroom.
Do not open that door. There's cats in there.
We don't want them out and lost in the snow.
It's very bad. It's the worst that it could be.
Okay, Jim. What does it look like up there?
The insulation is just kind of floating.
So it's all blown inside of this.
Okay. Fast, you guys! Move in faster!
We need to gain time in here.
The soffits are not looking good.
That means we just lost some time there.
Hustle.
Heading up.
[ Indistinct chatter ]
What's happening?
It's not good. It's worst-case scenario.
The insulation is just sitting in there,
so we need to plan differently.
We have to completely empty the kitchen,
get everything out of there, and then it's all gonna fall.
And then vacuum.
And clean it up and then start the construction.
Okay.
Hey, you guys. Quick change of plans.
We're clearing everything from the kitchen.
We cannot take the soffits down
until the kitchen is completely cleared, all right?
MATTHEWS: We are about 15 minutes into the build.
We're inside the house.
We're starting to deconstruct everything.
We've already ran into our first snag --
the situation with the insulation
that's above the soffits.
It's not good. It's kind of worst-case scenario.
It's blown-in cellulose, it's all over the place,
and as soon as we start pulling those soffits down,
it's gonna come down in the kitchen.
So the plan right now
is to get everything demo'd in the kitchen
except the soffits,
completely clear the space, bring in the vacuum,
and then start the soffits.
It's gonna be a disaster.
It's probably gonna add 15 minutes
onto that part of the project, but we just got to do it.
DUNN: We're just getting ready to head through downtown now.
Hot on the trail, following Jen and Ricardo.
Kind of got a slow person in front of me here,
so they're kind of making me a little nervous.
That's fine.
We'll pull it all the way back to where they come up.
We got blood already.
HUBER: You all right?
Oh, yeah. Let's see. Here it is.
Somebody got a paper towel? Where you got it?
Oh, that's pretty good.
We got a pretty good one.
Let's move out of the way, off to the side.
Yep. First aid.
We'll just plop down. Just relax there.
Yep.
Yeah, it's a pretty good gash.
You know? It's good.
Anybody who's able to work, let's keep on working here.
Don't slip on the blood.
MATTHEWS: So, a piece of gauze --
Anybody that's got a skullcap or something.
Is that Vaseline or is that --
Vaseline and antibiotic. Yeah. He's got both.
You okay, Scott?
STAFFORD: Yeah, I'm good, Mike.
That is "Renovation Raiders."
Move slow.
Put your gloves on and put a hard hat on, would you?
MATTHEWS: Hey, oh! Light's down!
What's that?
Thank you.
I have a feeling
it's gonna be one of those nights with safety.
I just have a weird feeling.
You guys, watch yourselves!
Oh.
Anybody in here, I want with a mask on. Here you go.
Electrician, right behind us.
So, in a second,
we're gonna start tearing down these soffits,
and all this stuff that you see up there,
all this blown cellulose, this stuff,
is all gonna come down all over us.
It's literally gonna be a dust bowl in here,
so we've got it all tarped off.
We're gonna close ourselves in.
Everybody in the room stays until it's totally clean.
This is killing us on time. We didn't expect it.
I mean, we thought it might happen, but here it's happening.
So...nothing else we can do.
The first thing we're doing is pulling the base,
and we're pulling all these cripples.
And then we'll pull the plywood.
So, I'm smashing down.
Whose idea was it to take these soffits down?
This really sucks.
Totally blows.
Um...
All right, here comes insulation.
Heads up, guys.
Whoa!
Whoo!
I cannot have any more blood on this project.
DUNN: I feel like I'm in a "***-Doo" mystery.
[ Turn signal clicking ]
We're just now turning down the street here.
They are slowly looking for a place to park, I believe.
And I'm trying to not be seen behind them.
[ Ringing ]
Hold on. Call coming in.
Can you yell? Hold up, everybody!
How you doing, Matt?
All right. We just pulled up to the restaurant.
They are hopping out of the car in the parking lot,
and I'm sitting -- getting ready to sit in position.
Awesome. Make sure they hit the bar.
Their reservation isn't until 6:30,
so I need at least 30 minutes or more at the bar, all right?
All right. Gotcha.
All right, thanks so much.
No problem.
Okay, you guys. We're screwed already.
That was our hour drive.
We were supposed to have demo completely done,
and we're only about halfway through.
These soffits are killing us.
We needed to make up time in our demolition,
and we haven't even finished half of our demo right now.
This is insane.
[ Saw whirring ]
Well, we're at the top of Hour 2,
and it's already not looking good.
Usually I'm in a great mood at this point,
but within the first five minutes of being here,
Scott had a beautiful gash on his head,
then we had the worst-case scenario with the soffits.
It's a total disaster in the kitchen.
Not to mention Ricardo,
that hour drive he was supposed to take --
He's early. He's already at the restaurant.
So we are way behind the schedule,
and it's literally the beginning of the night.
Very first cabinet coming off the truck.
You're gonna bring it right inside?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can't grab that angle.
Yeah. I got it.
Okay.
Oh, my God.
I got to go up!
Can you go over your head?
Whew!
Did they cut this one?
You're just notching that out right now. All right.
Let me know when you're done with that Sawzall.
MATTHEWS: So, what's happening?
Well, because we decided to take down the soffits,
we have all these flecks that are inside the soffits,
because it's a shortcut when the house is getting built.
All right, so, you do have a place to put them all.
Are any of them that are gonna cause a serious problem
with the cabinets going in at this point?
They are, but we're taking care of that serious problem.
Thank you for taking care of it.
Here's the scoop on the electrical.
When we took down the soffits, we found all the conduit,
the metal pipe that the electrical wires run in.
When they were installed first in the house,
they were not put into the wall
so you can have a nice square wall.
Well, because there were soffits there,
they just ran these things at, like, a 45-degree angle.
Now Tim has got to reroute
all of that conduit into the wall
so that we can make our walls flat
so that we can get the cabinetry on the walls.
It's probably gonna take them an extra hour and a half
than they planned for their electrical work,
and that means we need six to seven hours for this build,
not the five that we planned.
[ Laughter ]
DUNN: I wonder what they could be talking about.
You know, they've got to be talking about their wedding
and how special it was that night
and how they're back here,
overlooking the same river and the same scenery.
Hi.
Okay. Tell me.
You know we're so far behind 'cause of the demo.
Why are we really taking this wall out?
Let's leave it.
Then we don't have to deal with the carpet.
We don't have to deal with transitions.
We don't have to deal with mudding the wall here.
I say we leave it.
Leave it. I like it, anyway. It's a half wall. Leave it.
Okay. Good choice.
MATTHEWS: Hey! Attention, everybody!
This wall that was going away, the half wall -- it is staying.
Nobody demo it trying to help.
Thank you.
I should not cut anything.
Really?
MATTHEWS: How's the wall coming?
Have you?
It appears here, and then it's up here.
I don't know what's going on. Sorry.
Are you seriously okay, though,
or do we need to do something about it?
We love you. Go sit down.
Yeah. Just a minute.
Just take a minute.
You see this?
Yeah.
He's gonna need to go to the hospital.
He's not gonna sit down.
[ Sighs ]
Um...
Okay.
That's more important.
So, I'm making an executive decision.
[ Laughing ] No!
No way.
No, I can't do that.
The only thing that matters is that you're okay.
Of all people.
I know.
But, honestly, just in case you have a concussion,
I just don't want to take any chances.
Okay.
I can't stand to lose you, so let's go.
Man hug. See you, buddy. Take care.
[ Laughs ]
Something is definitely wrong with him.
To the nearest hospital.
Quickly.
When that man miscuts something, you know something's wrong.
Okay, it's not going as planned.
We had a few unforeseen surprises.
We're gonna need you to seriously buy us some time.
Cat's out!
MATTHEWS: Are you serious?
We're already a man down, and now we're looking for a cat?
I'm seriously gonna kill somebody.
MATTHEWS: Right now, Scott is in pretty bad shape.
I sent him to the hospital.
We're gonna be a man down, but it's the best thing I can do
for him and for the rest of us.
So, Jim, talk to me about everything over here.
How are you guys looking?
This cabinet's going in.
That's good.
You know, it's just gonna come together.
It is, and this is probably
the roughest demolition we've ever done, isn't it?
Yep. And it's over.
We're on the build.
It's over.
MATTHEWS: All right, Andy,
so now that you're on the wall, how's it coming?
Okay.
I'm one man down, but I'll get it.
So, I want you
to cut the drywall when you're done framing it in.
You got it.
I can't believe I'm saying this,
but we are actually at the top of Hour 3,
and this is insanity.
We're a man down, the cabinets are just going in,
which means we're an hour behind schedule already.
I'm calling the spy,
let him know that things are not going as planned,
and we need him to buy us as much time as he can.
Hello?
Hey, Matt. How's it going?
It's going good, Amy. How you doing?
Okay, it's not going as planned.
We had a few unforeseen surprises,
and we're gonna need you to seriously buy us some time.
I need you to do anything you can,
including calling the manager of the restaurant,
and buying us
at least 10 minutes on each of the courses.
The contingency plan we talked about,
the keys in the car getting locked,
I need you to follow through on that.
Okay.
And anything else that you might have dreamed up,
pull that out of your sleeve.
Got it.
Right now, they're still sitting at the table,
and they're still eating.
I haven't been able
to clearly tell which course they're on,
but I'm gonna call the manager,
and I will confirm that for you, Amy.
No problem.
Okay, hopefully Matt can tell that I'm really serious
and he will pull this off,
because we cannot do it without that extra time.
Yep.
Oh, we've got that right there.
[ Indistinct talking ]
[ Ringing ]
I need you to do me the biggest favor ever, Laurie.
We're trying to get this build done on the kitchen.
Can you please add 10 minutes of time
to each course going forward?
I need you to drag it out.
So, Andy, how's it coming over here?
I see you got the wall done.
Okay. Great.
So, you're level on this,
and then I'll come back and help you set that in in a minute.
Cool. I'll get this secured. Base cabinets and then Ed's gonna start taping.
Perfect. So you're moving fast.
Yep. I'm going fast as I can.
So, Jim, what's next for you putting in these kitchen pieces?
I need this all mudded.
Okay, so, you're waiting on Ed to get things mudded.
You want to jump in with Andy, who's down a man?
'Cause he's got these bases going in. Okay.
[ Indistinct talking ]
DUNN: I'm texting Ricardo now. He needs to give me a call.
Things are just moving a little bit too fast here,
so I'm waiting for him to give me that call.
He just got up from the table.
Going around?
Yep, I'm going around.
Tim, my dear, when can we start patching your wall?
I'm thinking right now.
Yes.
Okay, and all of the new countertop outlets
are in by code, you're good.
Awesome.
I love it.
Ed, all the electrical can be closed up.
Okay?
DUNN: Hey. Hello?
RICARDO: Hey, what's up?
You're moving way too fast, buddy.
What's that?
I said you're chewing way too fast.
I'm chewing way too fast?
Yes. You guys got to slow down a little bit.
I just talked to Amy. She needs some more time.
Don't lock your keys in the car.
I'm gonna lock your spare set in the car,
so you just pretend
as if you don't have your keys on you anymore.
Okay.
Cat's out.
Get the cat.
A cat?
Here, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty.
MATTHEWS: Are you serious about the cat?
WHEELER: Yeah.
So, the cat is outside.
Awesome.
We're already a man down, and now we're looking for a cat?
This is ridiculous.
Is it definitely outside?
I'm seriously gonna kill somebody.
"Spare bedroom: Cat holding room!
Do not enter!"
Are you serious?
"Hi! We got you a new kitchen, but your cat's frozen."
Oh, my God. I cannot believe this.
We're looking for a cat in the freezing cold in the dark.
Cats like warm spots,
which means maybe it'll find a car.
Lincoln.
Ah, Lincoln! Come on, buddy.
Are you kidding me?
[ Sighs ]
Hey.
Have you seen a cat?
Here, kitty.
CORBIN: Did you guys find any ***?
No! No cat.
But look -- The trailer's actually getting empty.
I know.
[ Indistinct talking ]
MATTHEWS: Well, even though everything else
might be going wrong so far tonight,
there's one thing that makes me feel a little better,
is that this truck is almost cleared out.
We are down to the last kitchen components,
and then we've got decor -- the table and chairs.
Now, that makes me happy.
Finishing pieces are almost all that's left in the truck.
That means if this is empty, the kitchen is full.
How high is that?
18 1/4.
Are you at the acrylic panels yet?
Where are you guys at with the kitchen space?
We just scraped all our walls,
so we're ready to cut, measure, and install.
Okay.
It's a good color, though.
Ready?
Yep.
This is the top of Hour 5.
It just makes me cringe.
We should be putting in decor right now,
we should be hauling out our tools,
and we should be cleaning up.
The good thing is that the restaurant
is doing awesome holding everything.
They've been delaying and dragging out all of the courses,
which is great.
As far as construction,
even though we're way behind, it's happening.
We're moving along. We just need more time.
More time.
More time.
I need some more time.
[ Lock clicks ]
Mission accomplished.
All right.
Just got back from putting the keys in Ricardo's car
and locking the doors.
Everything went off without a hitch.
So, we're just gonna sit back and watch and wait
and laugh while they try to get into their car.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
That gives your stomach more time to settle.
Perfect. Neither am I.
Hey, Matt. How's it going?
Everything is going great. Keys are locked in the car.
They're on the fourth course,
and they are still enjoying themselves
as the drinks keep flowing.
All right, thanks so much, Matt. You're doing an awesome job.
She loves me for that.
All right, go.
Look at that green going on!
I design a good kitchen, don't I?
Oh, this is awesome!
I'm starting to feel a little better right now.
I'm feeling a lot better.
I have big news.
I found the cat down in the mechanical room.
Crawling across the rafters.
I love you!
Oh!
I think that's the best news of the night,
and that's definitely the best work Tim has ever done.
He found the cat in the mechanical room,
up in the rafters.
That's awesome. The cat's back.
Oh, come on!
18 1/2.
So, talk to me, guys. What's going on over here?
Something's not gonna fit.
Something's not adding up.
We've got 18 --
We've actually got 18 inches on this side,
and we've got 37 inches on the other side.
We have exactly --
No, this is of the opening.
We have exactly 37-inch cabinet and an 18½-inch cabinet.
We do.
But we have a solution.
If we need to, we're gonna take off the end panel.
Yeah.
And we're gonna notch it slightly.
You notch the middle of the side panel out,
where the panel goes.
Just where that's gonna go.
Yeah, that's fine. That'll fit.
So, basically, this hood is in the way of everything.
And right now, we have too much cabinet for not enough wall.
We've got an 18½-inch cabinet.
We've got an 18-inch opening.
On the other side,
we have exactly 37 inches and exactly a 37-inch cabinet.
So we really have no wiggle room.
We're 1/2-inch short.
And there's no way to bend or move
or do anything to finagle it in there.
So, these guys are gonna work some magic -- literally.
We have our house-made banana cream pie,
and then a warm bourbon drink.
Calling Amy now to give her an update.
MATTHEWS: All right. Hold on, guys. Call coming in.
How you doing?
I'm good. Final course has been served.
They are enjoying that last dessert.
Awesome. Thank you so much.
They could be back in an hour.
[ Singsong voice ] Everybody just got quiet.
I got to move. I got to move.
They're done with dinner,
and I got to get in place for the stall tactic.
Slowly creep around this corner here.
I don't want them to see me.
I don't want to be made.
Looks like they're just now getting to the car.
They're realizing that the keys are locked in there.
It looks like from the body language,
Jen's looking a little bit frustrated
with the cold weather out there.
Oh, look at them.
They're going back into the restaurant now.
The plan is working.
[ Laughs evilly ]
MAN: Amy, you got a call coming in.
MATTHEWS: Yeah, I see it. Okay.
Hey, Matt. How's it going?
Oh, it's going good.
I got the tow truck on the way here in about 30 minutes.
They're in the bar, having a drink,
waiting on the tow truck as we speak.
Awesome. Thank you so much. Great news.
All right. Tow truck is on its way, people.
So, all said, we maybe have an hour
to get this place completely finished, mudded,
painted a second coat, all the plastic off the cabinet,
the floors cleaned up, the floors finished,
all the trim done, and the entire space decorated.
Oh, yeah.
The tow truck has unlocked the car.
MATTHEWS: They're in the car, people. They're on their way.
Oh, my God, you guys. Stop talking.
They're gonna be home any minute!
All right, this plastic is a pain to pull off,
especially after it's installed.
Oh, my gosh.
[ Ringing ]
Quiet!
Hey, Amy.
Hey, Matt. What's happening?
The tow truck has unlocked the car,
and we are about 45 minutes from being there.
MATTHEWS: They're in the car, people. They're on their way.
Scott!
What's happening?
How do you feel? How's your head?
STAFFORD: Okay.
My partner's back. Yeah.
Oh, my God, you guys. Stop talking.
They're gonna be home any minute!
These corners got to be clear.
[ Indistinct chatter ]
Whoo!
We need to clear everybody into the basement.
I'll finish cleaning the floor.
We got it.
[ Laughs ]
Baby.
[ Chuckles ]
Oh, wow.
Hi.
Come see your new kitchen.
[ Both laugh ]
My name is Amy,
and you guys just got raided.
[ Laughing ] I see.
[ Laughs ]
So, Ricardo has been --
[ Laughing ] You were just yelling at him?
Are you gonna stop yelling at him now?
Yes! Oh, my God.
He has been in on this since the beginning.
He told us that you were dying for a new kitchen.
Oh, my God.
So, what do you guys think?
This is awesome.
[ Laughs ]
I am at the right house, right?
[ Laughs ]
Come on back here. I have something special to show you.
You're a nail tech, you work at a spa,
and on the weekends, you have friends come over,
and this was a mishmash,
and you used to pull up a table and do their nails.
So, we thought we would make you a nail station
that kind of went away into your dining room
so that when you had friends over on the weekends,
you could actually do your work here at home.
[ Laughing ] I love it.
I wish I could say I did this by myself,
but I have an amazing crew,
and I want you to meet everybody.
So come on up, you guys.
This is Jim. This is our lead contractor.
Nice to meet you.
Craig, Andy.
It's an amazing group of people that took care of you tonight.
[ Laughs ]
Yeah.
Look at this guy. Oh, my gosh!
[ Laughter ]
You have to take that off. That is so scary.
I'm actually starting to get used to it.
So, he was actually tailing you guys all night.
Without this man, we couldn't have done it,
'cause we needed a couple stalls because -- Why?
We had a couple surprises.
Well, we want you guys to enjoy it.
[ Laughter ]
No problem, man.
CORBIN: You're very welcome.
Oh, you're welcome. Congratulations.
You're welcome.
All right, you guys. Let's leave them alone.
Thank you so much.
RICARDO: Appreciate you guys. You guys are awesome.
[ Indistinct chatter ]
I'm just -- I'm so blown away right now.
You should be.
You dirty sneak.
JENNIFER: And besides marrying him,
this is the second-best day of my life.
And I love you for doing this for me.
It's amazing.
I love it so much.
The nail table? Oh, my God.
Honey, this is crazy.
[ Sniffles ]
Oh, wow.
It's beautiful.
I love it.
Can you help me set the table for tonight?
I have some girls coming over, and I'm gonna do their nails.
JENNIFER: The new kitchen has totally changed everything.
I have a place to put everything.
It's not crammed into one space.
I have so much counter space,
plenty of room to cook
all my amazing food that I love to do, and...
...entertaining people.
And I get to do nails.
Oh. I like the green on you.
For him to pull this off
and keep it a secret for so long from me,
I give him props
for going behind my back and doing all this.
It's a dream come true.
