so color correcting images in photoshop is uh... fairly commonplace i find that
people convert to CMYK before they color correct images because they want
to see all of the colors that are going to be lost when when you move from a larger
RGB color gamut to a smaller CMYK color gamut
and that makes sense
as you can see here we we actually lose a lot of colors we convert to CMYK
a the problem is is Photoshop actually does a much better job of correcting
color
in the RGB color space
because you have a lot more colors work with and photoshop has a lot more
colors to sample with. So I'm going to undo this
and i'm going to show you a different way.
If you go to view
and select proof colors
now with photoshop does is it keeps the image in the argue b color space but
what you're seeing visually is how the image is going to look when it's converted
to CMYK and i have the best of both both worlds you have
the RGB gamut, you have all these colors that you can use to color correct
the image and you're getting in an on-screen preview of how the image will look when
it's converted to seem like a you always get better results from a color
standpoint when you work this way.
