It’s really about creating a culture in that school where it’s not tolerated anymore.
And the biggest proponents of that cultural shift are going to be our students. The students
are just as tired of this environment as we think they are.
My kids have come to embrace people’s differences, and just accept them for who they are. And
I think when kids model that with each other, and when they’re willing to speak up and
say it’s ok to be different, that that’s just a really powerful thing. And that other
kids catch on to it too because basically all kids are different. They all have something
that’s unique about them. And if we can teach our kids to accept that, I think our
schools will be a better place.
