The hapu of Ngati Rangataua in Poroporo has opened their marae
to the many families of Christchurch.
With an open heart and much humility,
Ngati Rangataua hapu of Ngati Awa has opened its doors
to those who have been stricken and need to rest and recuperate
somewhere quiet and peaceful.
We invite you all to our marae to stay and to cry.
Here you can let that hurt out.
The marae is open to all our relatives
who have been affected by the quake.
The call is also open to all other nationalities
who have also been affected.
The marae is open to you all, come home. It costs nothing.
A gesture which is being supported by the Runanga of Ngati Awa,
at this time is coordinating their plans
in conjunction with Ngai Tahu.
It is an admirable gesture we also support
and acknowledge Ngati Rangataua marae
for opening up to help the stricken families of the quake.
We are working behind the scenes
supporting the call of Ngati Rangataua.
In days gone by when tragedy struck
this is the way our ancestors would have dealt with it -
working together.
Had this happened in the time of our elders,
they would have done the same thing.
The number to call to take up this offer is -027 697 4892.
Hinerangi Goodman, Te Karere.
