When I was at college and we were doing a lot of maths, a lot of the kids would use
graphic calculators and obviously that's extremely hard, near impossible, if not
impossible for a vision impaired person to read and work with.
What I discovered was there's a "mouse around", a Microsoft mouse, and it's got a small
little button here on the side. And what that will do is that you load the drivers onto
your laptop and when you push the button you will get a zoom window that comes up around
your mouse, your cursor. Also with the graphics calculator, I spoke
to my IT department at school and they put me onto a programme called the Casio Emulator.
And this is is it's a digital version of the graphic calculator that everyone else
if using. So I'd be at school, and the software stills has small keys so I would use the Microsoft
mouse in conjunction with the Casio Emulator and you can see, you can zoom right in on
the keys and if that's not enough, you can hold that button down again and scroll and
it goes in and out of the zoom and you can drag the mouse and you can
adjust the window size. So with this I used it every maths lesson
for pretty much all of my schooling years. It allowed me to, I wouldn't use my laptop
for anything else other than just a calculator, but it allowed me to do the problems and keep
up with the rest of the class. Because, especially in latter, especially later on in years when
you do, you have lessons that are based around the graphics calculator, calc and trope and
all those sort of things where you need to have it. So it is, it was a crucial part of
my schooling years. A lot of the teachers with smart boards around
nowadays, they would use the same calculator on the screen as they're showing the kids
what to do which was great, because I could just be there, sitting there following the
exact buttons that they press and learn just by being able to follow through and not having
to get it explained separately. Many thanks to Daniel and Kieran. For more
