Hi! My name is Shawna on behalf of Expert Village. I’m going to demonstrate how to
do a mock casing on a waistband with elastic. What I’ve done is I pressed down the top…let’s
say this were the top of a pair of pants or a skirt, or something you want a casing in.
I’ve pressed it down just a bit, about 3/8 of an inch and pressed it down another inch
and a half or so. It depends on the size of your elastic. Now what I’ll do is, actually
this is our wrong side, and I’ll take just a little bit out of that where the hem hits
the wrong side. I could press this again, but I’ll just finger press it now. What
I’m going to do is I’m just going to take a quarter of an inch on that fold that I’ve
made. Kind of like when you are doing a blind hem, you’ll fold it backwards like that.
Okay, so now when I open it up to the front, I got what looks like a separate waistband.
Then I can go ahead and string my elastic through and attach it in the back or tie it
off, and then you have your elastic waistband.
