Like we have two statues placed here; in reality, we wanted one of Ganeshji
and one of Shiva-Parvati. But when we called the sculptor in May, he
said that “a statue of Lord Krishna is ready – the statue of Lord Krishna that
is ready is of the size of a statue that you want. And the other statue I can make -
that of Shiva-Parvati.” So Ashok informed me about this. I said “That’s
fine, if Lord Krishna wants to come, then let Him come. Why should we say ‘No’ to
that which wants to come.” This is the problem in our life: we say “Don’t
come, don’t come” to that which is coming, and hold on to that which is
going, saying "Wait."
People say that “If I perform an action, but don’t focus on the fruit of that action,
then why should I perform the action? If I perform an action and don’t focus on the
fruit of that action, on what I will achieve from that action, then why
should I perform the action?” But, I believe, that the meaning of Lord's saying
here is that you keep on performing actions. To act is our nature, essence,
practice, habit. We should keep on performing actions. If we perform an
action by looking at its fruit, then our goal, our aim, becomes that fruit;
rather than focusing our attention on the action that we are performing, our
attention gets diverted to the fruit of the action.
Fruit of the action will be attained anyway.
