Rome, 9 am let’s go to Misano Adriatico
This Alfa Romeo has been completely disassembled and cleaned.
All the preparatory procedures have been done.
A white opaque color has been applied to its bottom
and the car has been decorated with a special strip and fine detail in blue glitter.
Car Wrap Rome are a company founded 10 years ago
who specialize in the production of car wrapping
which involves covering with adhesive film for both protective and decorative purposes.
We are installers 3M and Oracal and these are the results.
We are at Misano, an extraordinary track dedicated to Marco Simoncelli,
it was dutiful that this should be done and has been so.
We are here, the Hybrid Cup championship is starting
everything is managed by the BRC, an extraordinary company.
BRC was born 30 years ago from mine and my brother Mariano's desires.
It is now the leader in both Italy and the world for LPG and CNG.
In Italy it has 2 plants, one in Cherasco and the other in Livorno
where we design and build all the plants that will go around the world.
Three years ago we came up with a trophy cup
known for the first two years as the Green Scout Cup.
This year its name was changed to the Green Hybrid Cup.
Also this year it enjoys the name of The Italian Championship
of Alternative Energies as well as The International Series.
In fact in 2013,
in addition to the five Italian stages there will be
two further International appointments in Nürburgring and Poznan.
These two stages will add a touch of internationality to our league.
There will be 15 cars at the start,
15 drivers who will compete for the title of Italian Champion
that in 2012 was won by Jimmy Ghione.
This year the cars will have a further innovation,
a hybrid power source.
We will add to the traditional power LPG
made with the standard components of BRC
that can be found in all the shops,
the hybrid system located in the back of the car.
This will give 25 horse power extra to the car.
The cars this year are pretty and have the innovation of kers
that I think will give an extra fun component to the championship,
will involve participants more
and will lead to more implemented strategies.
The main part of the car remains
the power supply with the gas system
that is, the usual configuration.
The LPG tank is located in place of the fuel tank
and so is very reliable.
In fact during the last competitions
we haven’t had any mechanical trouble at all.
One thing to dispel is the fact that the gas is dangerous.
In fact many people use a gas engine car
but they are still afraid it can combust.
Have you ever heard that a gas car has done so?
Never, while there are petrol engine cars that have indeed caught fire.
Let's stop talking about the danger of gas engines.
The fact that we test these cars on the track,
that we run with these cars means
that the FIA has given certifications.
Thousand of tests have been done
in order to get these certifications.
The hybrid part is obviously installed
in the rear area of the car,
in this position it is impossible to see it
because we must lift the car.
This is also a project developed
in the research and development of BRC.
The biggest concerns are always at the start,
because waiting for the traffic light to change from red to green
creates a state of anxiety and emotion
that disappears after the start
and after depressing the accelerator.
This is a beautiful feeling
that I had never felt until two years ago
when I tried for the first time to drive the car.
This is a unique experience
that I recommend to everyone.
Every year there are new faces,
there are new pilots,
some of them professionals such as Jacopo Lombardelli
seen three years ago.
Now he has a lot of experience,
so we expect this year he will get some important results.
The pilots have fun because they have
the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the car.
In fact there are two free practice sessions,
a qualifying session for almost half an hour
and also two races of 25 minutes each.
The championship is characterized by six very important tracks
among them being Nürburgring and Poznan in Poland.
As a result, the pilots also get to see
other really important international tracks.
Each race consists of two rounds of free practice,
one qualifying session and two races.
For race no. 2 there is the reversal of the first eight positions,
so an entertaining event is always assured and people have fun,
usually all of them are happy.
The aim of BRC was to create
a group of people who enjoy belonging,
creating friendships outside the circuit
and this is one of the most successful
things this league has led to.
Few young people participate in the championship,
we are just three and I am the older one.
The rest of the people are adults
who have already competed.
When Lombardelli won first place
it was quite exciting because he was new to this sector,
he did not know what a track was,
had never even tried a go cart.
Both he and the rides were two opposite planets.
Seeing him winning in less than 2 years was really overwhelming.
His father was most satisfied and very excited.
This was the moment that excited us the most.
As we said this is the first stage,
there will be other 5 stages in Italy,
we would like to invite you to come
to the stages of the races in order to see
how the BRC plants work and have fun with us
and spend a day in a different way.
