let
i want to touch on this i don't have much to have
to what's being reported at this point
but i wanted to make sure that people were aware of this story
and will put some links up on majority dot f_m_
uh... to the store a horrible
horrible story where
these incredible don loss
that are being passed around the country
particularly in southern states
somebody s in the midwest
these
stand down or
stand your ground laws
which essentially says that you can carry a concealed weapon
and simply wide is the parameters in which uh... you're allowed to shoot
and it's not simply these laws of course it creates a certain culture
and
usually the victims in these instances
are not only innocent
but are more often than not
people who society already has a predisposition towards
suspicious of the suspect
in this case uh... it is a
case of what well i think should be
frankly
not a homicide a manslaughter charge we're gonna see at so far we've seen
nothing
eight seventeen year old kid
trade von martin
african-american kid
was staying with his dad
and went out on the night on the
and be all our uh... n_b_a_ all-star game to go get snacks at a seven-eleven
stewart's or whatever one of those uh... convenience stores
he's walking back
and i guess i they're cutting through a gated community or war
or walking by a gated community
i think the father's house was actually in the gated community
walking to the gated community where his uh...
believe his father live
in uh...
the suburb of san fernando
uh... in florida
and
a call is put into nine one one by the head of the neighborhood watch
who apparently is carrying a gun it's outsourcing also important to add that
he's the only member the neighborhood watch kisses the only one who wanted
so this is a guy who's obviously very excited at the uh... the prospect of
playing policemen
any calls into the cops
and says i see a guy he's walking around african-american
looks like he's up to no good
got his hand in his pants or something
and eight sort of reining and he's just he's sort of looking around walking
and if we said i will come in check it out
and then you can hear the guy leaves his car
because the winds start to russian on his cell phone
so much so that the uh... please dispatch says
are you are walking a you following him in the guys like yardley said okay don't
do that
and the next thing you know minutes past
and there are nine one one recordings of
you hear someone screening
and then all the side you hear a single shot
and a seventeen-year-old boy eight rave on martin his kilt
he has no weapon
couple packs a candy some uh... soda or whatever it is
iced tea
and
the police
it seems that barely question this is a man and they don't bring them in
they don't give them a uh... an alcohol breathalyzer
he has gotten no charges at this point
their reports that
when the police
question witnesses one witness or woman apparently
said that she heard
the kid screaming
and the police kept saying no no no you heard zimmerman
the neighborhood watch guy and should nearly a decade
and they kept saying no zimmerman
japan is it ok zimmerman and now she's come out to say i never
was referring to that dot i didn't know the names of the people
the conscious kept saying this guy's name is so i assume that was it
and so
but we have here in its
a police department which i think is
going to get a lot more scrutiny
in the way that they handled this case
a case on its face that
seems completely on just
and it being the function
of a of the law
which if not encourages this behavior doesn't discourage
pertinently will case will put links up on the site but i wanted to make sure i
don't have anything to add beyond that
but uh... it's something i want to draw your attention to
because we have a real problem in this country with this
with a military zation of our police
and uh... these
gun laws which are encouraging
people who essentially you know fancy themselves rambo to go out there
this guy's upset because there's been some uh... break-ins it is one other one
wanted or lease a holes and i think is the quote
to get away
just reprehensible and now this uh... seventeen-year-old kid
who by all accounts
just good kid
uh... dead now
i hope every one of those legislators who voted for this bill
uh... realize that they bear responsibility in this instance
