Hello everyone, this is Ilya Soloviev and welcome to my video blog which i've dedicated to your questions.
I've selected the most interesting and frequently ones and tried to answer it in details.
So the first question is what do you think about the trends of mixing other genres like progressive and house with trance?
Very good question
I think its about the rule of trends
when one artist or project makes something commercial successful and others become to copy it and steal some tricks to their own music
For example if we look at popular Swedish House Mafia band
we can notice that a lot of new tracks uses the same melody style, same baseline etc…
So thats how people mix genres
Thats always happened before and will happen everytime, it seems logical enough
People want to be popular and successful
And the most easy way is to use someone's formula for your own stuff.
Speaking about Trance itself, i don't think its independent genre anymore
its like a group of producers and djs which call themselves a "Trance Producers"
but its not that Trance we heard for last couple of years
The mix with house music is obvious
And if we look on Beatport for example
we hardly can notice any difference between House and Trance music these days.
There is nothing to do about it
By the way, what do you think about it?
Its interesting to hear your opinion
So if you have something to say about it please write in comments below
The next question is are you a full time producer or have other job as well?
Yes, music is my only job and i'm very happy about it
Also as you may know, I'm working on my own label Timeline Music
Producing music, performing as a DJ and so on…
Unfortunately, for the last couple of month i've been isolated from music production
Because of some major changes in personal life and non-musical related things
I've built a new studio for example...
So the time for music production was not enough as i want to be
But i'm happy to say that everything got back on track
And i already have something new to show
One of this will be announced on 25th May already, so keep your eyes open
I think it will be very interesting event for most of you
When you'll release your artist album?
Well, as an artist its my goal and dream for sure
But at the moment i really want to concentrate on singles and remixes
To grow my name as much higher as possible
So the album will get bigger support, will be more demanded and popular
Therefore i don't think i will start working on it in the near future as it needs a lot of time as well
The album is kinda final point of artist development on the certain state of his career
when he is set his own style and ready to show it to the whole world in the form of complete product
The album must have style and story, be unique…Im not sure im ready for it at the moment
What do you like more? Uplifting Trance like Andy Blueman or Progressive Trance like Arty?
I like quality electronic dance music!
I don't divide it to specific genres anymore
And i can't say "Ok, this is great track but its Progressive so i won't play it"
I'm looking for a good and unique tracks in every genre to use in my mixes and live sets
The most important for me is the key of the track, its personality
Therefore i can't say which i like more
In every genre both good and bad tracks
So i don't think about genres when selecting tracks and rely only on my own taste
which is very wide open
therefore there are always a bit of uplifting, progressive, techno and house in my sets
How should famous artist interact with his fans?
Should he stay on background and act through his managers for all social activities?
or do this by himself?
Very interesting question!
I think its all the matter of free time
Because the life of famous artist is extremely busy
So he can't even talk with his family for most of the time
We can't blame them for hiring managers to do this job, its obvious
But if you have some time i think its good thing to talk with your fans on Twitter or Facebook
Because fans is the most important driving force, its the key element of whole scene
