A personal testimony from
A personal testimony from a Disciple of Jesus
Jesus is someone very real for me.
He's not a character from the Bible that I can just read about
Jesus is really beside you.
He wants to help. He wants to tell you what you should say.
He wants to tell you what you should do, or how you should treat others.
I can say He's the one I follow,
He's gone ahead. He's made the way, and I follow Him.
He'll also show me the way to go.
Relationship to Jesus
Jesus didn't want people to worship Him just for the sake of it.
He wanted ones who were followers of Him,
who were His brothers and sisters.
That's how I've experienced Jesus in my daily life,
in my situations.
He's very real to me and very close in my situations.
I feel that when I go to work in the office,
or when I go home to my apartment
that He's there—He's following along, to help me.
Jesus tells me what to do through His Word.
I've experienced personally that verses often come to me
Not only verses in the Bible,
but also things that I've heard or things that others have encouraged me with
or an example that I've seen in somebody else
how they've taken it in a similar situation.
Then you know: This is the way I need to take it!
This is the way Jesus would have taken it!
So you find that when you need help,
you do get the help you need.
These words that come to you are not an accident,
I know for myself, it's an instruction.
When these verses come, it's an instruction
God is saying, "Sarah, you do this,
this is what I want you to do!"
Then you will have this spiritual growth.
Then you will come to more of these virtues,
more of these fruits.
My goal as a disciple
is to come completely to the life Jesus came to.
When I think how at the end of His life
He had been faithful in everything,
and He came to the end of His life, and He wasn't even tempted any more,
that's really a life to come to.
When I see for myself, in my daily life
how easy it is in your thought life, and in your dealings with others,
how I lack so much love,
so much wisdom. so much true care,
so much rest.
It takes so little for me to come out of rest.
That's my goal: I know that if I choose to follow the way Jesus went,
I will also end up how He ended up.
And that means rest.
I can't think of anything better than to live a life
where you really have rest! Rest inside, and joy inside.
That's something that nobody can take away from you
You have that inside. Like it's written: you gather those treasures in heaven.
Nobody can take it.
I can say that's really what my goal is.
Living the life of a disciple, you also see your need.
As a disciple, you look to the Master
you look to the one you're following
and you see how it doesn't match up.
But that should give you a longing,
that you can follow that. You can see what you lack
and it should be far from it that I become discouraged,
or feel that it doesn't work.
No! That's my goal, so I work towards that goal.
I was thinking of the way Jesus took it,
it's written that when He came into temptation, He cried to God,
with cries and with tears
But the fact that I see that I'm weak and that I'm tempted easily
and that I easily come into unrest
or easily become anxious or care what others think,
the fact that I see it should be a joy for me.
If I don't see it, I don't see the goal either.
To be aware of your weakness, to be awake,
to see how your life hasn't become like your Master yet
that actually means you're a disciple.
I really look forward to Jesus coming back!
He's been someone who's been close to me. I feel I know Him so well!
Because He gives me help, and words that I can use in my daily life
and in my daily situations.
So I really look forward to the day when I can meet Him
That day when Jesus comes back to fetch His bride...
The bride—that means those who are His disciples,
who have followed Him and seen the way He lived,
the pattern that He lived, and followed that.
I look forward to this day!
It's not a day that I fear—that the end is coming
and that i should be very scared. It's not like that at all.
I know why I've lived,
and I know that I live a conscious life of a disciple.
A disciple of Jesus—so I look forward to seeing Jesus again!
I look forward to seeing the One I've followed.
Whose life I've followed.
Also speaking with Him, face to face
about how He had it in His daily life
I look forward to that!
I know He will know me!
I know Jesus will know me.
It's written about those who knocked on the door
and Jesus says, "I don't know you".
But it's clear that if I've got to know Jesus
then I've spent time with Jesus
That means He's also spent time with me and also knows me!
So that's one thing I know—when I see Him again,
it won't be like meeting someone I never saw before.
