Hello my name is Ido Feder.
Moshe Schechter Avshalom, my partner for this production, and I are happy to introduce
"Diver - contemporary dance festival in Tel Aviv - Jaffa".
Diver is a new festival to be held in late May to early June, which calls for a new spirit of dance to occupy Tel Aviv.
You might be asking why another dance festival? or what distinguishes us from other events happening around the city?
Well, firstly, a new artistic taste, which is diverse and up to date.
Many of us feel that a handful of people whom are conservative, driven by economic and bureaucratic interests
and most of all not connected to the contemporary practice, are the ones who decide the fate of dance in Israel.
We wish not to be identified with one particular organization and nor with one specific place, but we wish to set a new site
that aims to think and create dance with all various partners, who feel that we deserve something fresh and new.
The festival will present performances of young and experienced choreographers,
from Israel and abroad, that portray dance of varied types,
performances will take place in various venues all around the city.
Along side the shows other dance related events will take place, such as: discussions, lectures, screenings, heated debates and parties.
We call for a true and full festival spirit.
We only ask you: please do not rush to categorize us as 'fringe' or 'alternative'.
We wish to occupy the center. We want to redefine it.
Diver Festival will be the new front line of dance in Tel Aviv and Israel.
We know we have a lot to prove. But to accomplish that we also need your help.
You, our audience, who wants a festival which has as its top priority the making of art.
We ask you to support us by buying tickets in advance through this virtual project,
and of course if you know anyone who might just want to contribute because they would find us so very interesting,
we would be very glad as well, mainly because budget is something we still dream of.
So that's it. Let's dive in, explore, and make contemporary dance in Tel Aviv.
