everybody Ben mankiewicz Alonso there all day what the flick we're going to be
discussing the new HBO show which will premiere
Sunday the 19th after
girls rise called looking at it is what it's a new show its about a three game
in San Francisco
a very sages various relationship status is very sadness that is
arm figuring out me know their lives and their love lives and
it in in the way that the girls grew out of Sex in the City I think it's safe to
say that this is sort of a post girl show
arm i've seen the pilot it's terrific these characters feel
true an interesting arm they're almost times I kinda felt like a hour
we're going to talk about this with you know no good with the rest of the world
so
you know there's some some terrific talent involved and you have a good
weekend
directed the pilot in is doing several the episodes Jonathan Groff who I'm
he wasn't coge was on Glee with the did the
Spring Awakening on broadway it was one of the three leads I am
it's a I think the really promising show and I we will all be back
next week to talk about the first two episodes overlooking
so make sure you tune in for that and I'll you this is a ring after january
ninety-two it aired last night
yeah yet so I because Alonso's away and I haven't seen the premier ELCA the
I i'm in Sundance right now I was magaly I will see that last night where
everybody else at
so we'll talk with the first two episodes on our next week on my yeah
money the 27th
right so we we Remi recapping the whole season so come back for that
so will quit before we your wrap that up so
like it's got stuff that like like I was intrigued by your like a well we're
gonna be so yeah
they're like gay things that their gate commuter we know is that we talked about
to each other I notice until the rest the world well yeah stock us or we'll
fire maybe you know I will let us know I got shot made here are my mother
glickman's yeah I think they're very existence to the show was gonna be
automatically shock a certain segment of the population but
arm based on the one episode that I have seen
it it seems I a smart and true
an interesting I think you know it'll be interesting to see how
it plays not just among mainstream audiences but for gay audiences because
there so few shows like this there's that tendency is we were talking with
Anna earlier about girls wear
you know there will be gay viewers for whom the show does not reflect their
own experience and so whether or not they say within %uh they embrace a show
where they
rejected because they don't see themselves in its
I you know that'll be an issue that will just lays out complete
universality well that was not and and it's a standard that is a
it too easy criticism yeah absolutely and it's unfair to
you know it girls is not speak for all women in their twenties
and this is not going to speak for all gay men in there you know twenty to
forty is
I but it speaks for some love them and it feels like an honest portrayal love
those characters
and that's enough and when we get the show on a mainstream network like HBO
and I know there have been other gay team shows but this
that somehow but maybe just because it HBO and maybe I just feel that this
feels different so it feels important and that's good
yeah some very excited about the serious art see a couple weeks or next week
whatever the hell
I
