Hi! My name is Iris!
(While signing) My name is Cheryl.
(In Chinese) Wo de ming zi is Iris (My Name is Iris.)
(in Spanish) Me llamo Cheryl (My name is Cheryl.)
And we want to do
The Amazing Race! Yeah, we've known each other a long time!
Yes, Cheryl and I have known each other since high school.
Yep, we played violin together in orchestra. Yep.
And we stayed friends for 31 years. Two of us have gone through lots of
different things in life
We've been in each other's weddings. Yep, I played violin in her wedding. I was her maid of honor!
She stood up in my wedding!
We've supported each other
through not so happy times as well. My divorce. Yeah.
A couple of funerals in my family. Just recently, the death of my boyfriend a couple of months ago. Yeah. Sucked. That was really hard.
That was really hard for both of us. but, Iris really helped me through that. Wouldn't have made it through without Iris.
I'm glad we're friends. Absolutely. Absolutely.
And then, she's seen me through raising my son.
Got his first job this year, graduated from school. There are a lot of things.
We think we'd be really good together on the Amazing Race.
For example, Cheryl has a black belt. So, I can do lots of physical things.
I'm absolutely okay with trying weird food.
Cheryl's not a weird food person! She'd be better at eating things!
I have been involved with the breast cancer 3-Day. We've done a lot of fund-raising,
All sorts of crazy stuff doing fundraising. Yea, we've made all sorts of stuff.
Down in Tampa, during the tail end of Hurricane Sandy, we were selling buttons.
At the 3-Day walk! Down there where we volunteered! Shaking our Jug!
We don't work in the summer, which is awesome.
That's why we want to do the Amazing Race.
And we decided to do our own mini version of the Amazing Race.
And where did we decide to go?
The Corn Palace!!! In Mitchell, South Dakota Yeah, in case you didn't know where that was!
2,300 mile round trip! From Detroit, Michigan to Mitchell, South Dakota!
So that means I've been to 46 states now!
Yep! She's beaten me in that a little bit.
Here we are in the Corn Palace! 3 days and 1,200 miles later, we finally made it!
Okay, Cheryl and I are at the sculpture park! (laughing) In South Dakota! We're going downhill!
Cheryl's never driven a golf cart, so um.... (laughing) no guarantees how this video is going to turn out...
Iris is putting her life in my hands! Oh my God!!
Wow, these are cool! I like the fish! Oh, I thought we got to go up in it! I don't think so. 'Cause there's stairs?
We've also done a lot of things out of our comfort zone.
For example, we've taken pole dancing classes. Yes, well actually, we got pretty good!
Well, she's better than me.
She's an admissions counselor for MSU.
And Cheryl works for Detroit Public Schools as a special education teacher.
Yep, I work with autistic teenagers.
We hope you guys pick us! Yeah, choose us! We love to travel, love to go places and we think it would be a really cool experience
to tell our students! And, a million bucks! That wouldn't hurt either! (laughing) Alright, Thank you! Bye! Bye!
