When I was a youngster - 14,15,16 years old, I always loved motor cars and I always wanted
to build my own car. Having never built a car before, I thought
I would make the chassis out of balsa. The car took about 2 years to build going
at about 3 or 4 hours a day. There was about 30 of these cars built originally in the 50's.
Two of them were known as an offset car and it enabled the driver to sit lower. I wanted
to keep it as original as possible. Things like suspension and brakes and stuff like
that it's pretty all as it was in the 50's. Of course they didn't have a roll bar or seatbelt
in those days. A frenchman called Jean Behra used to drive it and he had number 32 and
I was a bit of a fan of his. It is a joy to drive - I love it.
