(sounds of birds, nature, jungle)
The actual sounds of nature recorded unenhanced right off the balcony of my accomodations
at the Iberostar Tucan Quetzel Resort
Another thing that makes the Iberostar Tucan Quetzel really unique
is that many times throughout the
day you will have the opportunity to possibly see
Howler monkeys. There is a troupe of Howler monkeys
that call that area home and they travel between different resorts like RIU Yucatan
Iberostar Tucan
and they stay the tree tops. But early in the morning especially, you can hear them calling
so
I would get a cup of coffee, go out, locate the tree they're in and watch them
Now if you can imagine that this is a Playa Car, Playa del Carmen Mexico
in the Riviera Maya a phenomenal area.
Five-star resorts and the resorts are right beside each other
but again one of the regulations in the Mayan Riviera is that no resort can be higher than
the tallest palm trees which is something I've said this before we here
in Canada could learn from that because we build the highest resorts right on the waterfront
Another area Iberostar Tucan Quetzel really excels is their integration into nature.
It's a very eco-friendly resort.
They left a large central part of the resort undeveloped and there are just trails zigzagging
through it and it's a jungle area. There's always different creatures running around
in there
and
it was just fun to walk through. You're shaded from the sun for one thing
but there was always the opportunity of seeing anything from squirrels, peacocks
and guinea foul, chicken I mean there's just
so many things
It's a very appealing resort for families
for couples and even for singles
Lushly landscaped. There are water skapes throughout the resort - right around the dining rooms
they have everything from
ponds with lots of large coy to waterfalls.
Iberostar Tucan Quetzel has one of the largest pools in the
Playacar, Mexico area. It's over thirty thousand square feet in size
and it's a beautiful pool. Now the pool is
the same as it was
When I was there
even now
None of the resort has really changed I mean I walk through it
in November 2007
but one of things that has changed drastically is the beach
This is the beach the way to use to be before a devastating hurricane
It was a wide expanse of beach with shallow water off the side beautiful swimming conditions
not great for snorkeling - as a matter of fact anytime that I’ve tried snorkeling there
I never saw anything besides sand
but
still it's a beautiful, beautiful
wide expensive beach
I have heard a lot of comments now that the beaches being reclaimed and
being brought back since the hurricane but I cannot vouch for that yet. Cindy and are
planning a return trip where we want to stay
again in the Playacar area and take a look and see what's happening because
for a lot of people the beach is important its
the pools are fantastic it's a great place to play with kids
but the beach holds such an attraction
Although I prefer being on the beach as much as possible in the Caribbean I have to admit
that at the Iberostar Tucan Quetzel I did spend quite a bit of time in the swimming pool.
They had some fantastic activities there
during the daytime and it was always
a fun place to be. It was just one of those pools that is so integrated into the environment
it's right on the beach
You're literally just a couple steps away and there's snack bars on either side
So it was a fun place to be and like I say any time of the day I mean that's kind of place
where
if you want to curl up in the morning with a book and
read while you listen to the sounds of nature it's perfect for that
Your watching the sun coming up that warmth rising
and it's just so peaceful and tranquil.
I love the area and I look forward to going back with Cindy again. Thank you.
