SteriPen Traveler 3 in 1 UV Water Purifier Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here.
Today we’re looking at the SteriPen Traveler 3 in 1 UV Water Purifier.
The concept here is really very simple. The Traveler uses powerful germicidal UV light
to zap microorganisms and kill or render them completely harmless.
You simply turn the unit on, immerse it in water, and the water sensor automatically
turns the UV bulb on when it’s in the water and starts the timer, and then automatically
shuts the unit off when the proper dose of UV has been administered.
Now, used correctly, this unit exceeds the US EPA Standard for microbiological water
purification and, in fact, destroys 99.9999% of bacteria, 99.99% of viruses, and 99.9%
of protozoa. The unit is very durable and capable of providing
3,000 one liter doses of UV. If you did four liters of water per day every day, that’s
almost two years of use. Now, please note that pre-filtering the water
is strongly recommended. You see, UV rays are blocked by sediment in the water. By pre-filtering,
you remove that sediment out of the way so that the UV rays can effectively penetrate
and do their job. Now, this unit use 4 AA batteries, and it
is strongly recommended that you use lithium batteries and not alkaline batteries. The
UV light takes a lot of juice, kind of like a digital camera how you can really eat through
batteries with alkaline type batteries. Use the lithium ones and you’ll get significantly
better life. This is highly portable and compact. It’s
got a really lightweight design, is perfect for outdoor activities, travelers, and emergencies.
In fact, in my opinion, every emergency preparedness kit should have one of these inside.
If you have a boil water advisory in your local community, if you have one of these
sitting on the shelf, it’s like the fire extinguisher; you hope you never have to use
it but you sure are glad you have it when you need one.
Again, this is the SteriPen Traveler 3 in 1 UV Water Purifier, and I’m your host Tony
the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
