Hi, I'm Steve Lawler and we're here in my home studio in Birmingham which is one of two studios that I have. The other one being in Ibiza where I spend around eight months a year.
I travel every weekend and also go on tours which can last anything from three weeks to two months and then when I do get my very little amount of time at home I tend to spend it in the studio in the daytime.
For me as a producer and as a DJ the most important part of what I do is all about the groove.
Whenever you build a record, you tend to build the rhythm and groove first which I find the Maschine amazing for.
Dark Pressure is a combination of old sounds and new sounds from production that I made even up to 15 years ago.
Taking kick drums, snare drums, hihats, all the kind of rhythmic percussion elements from a track, just to give it a whole sort of new slant and something original.
You know the sounds within Dark Pressure have been produced in such a way that they are ready to be played in a club.
And when you're performing in a club you can use this loop to sort of see if you need to do something more to it, or you need to change it, or you know you can test out what you're doing very quickly and very easily.
And that's the same thing I'm doing now with the patterns that I've created in Maschine, I am playing them as loops also underneath my regular DJ set as well as playing them individually on their own.
I can play music that people will go out there and buy and it will never sound the same as what I'm performing it live.
