Once upon a time, we did stuff! Like teach a lot and a lot of information literacy classes.
We felt pretty good because we thought we were teaching a lot of students something useful.
After a while it seemed it was hard to keep up with all the demand and complexity of programs.
And courses. And there were so many professors to meet!
So we started to question things.
Like, How many students were we actually reaching?
And where is the best place to reach our students?
And what is the best way to teach these students?
So we decided we needed a plan. And so we came up with an online data entry system for our staff!
If a librarian taught an IL class, by golly it was recorded.
We even compared our data with other data.
Like registration data! And even started thinking about assessment.
When we had a whole bunch of data we did something daunting - we analyzed it!
And came up with recommendations that turned into initiatives.
We found we could reach more students more effectively through a mix of online learning modules and hybrid teaching.
And our data will help us build more innovative solutions for the future.
