Most people at some point their life has struggled with debt. Typically, the people that approach
us have either recently been made redundant, or have had a loss of earnings, or have experienced
life-changing events like marriage, divorce or moving home.
Our clients typically need help with unsecured debt. That's things like credit cards, store
cards, short-term loans, and utility bills.
When a client makes contact with us, they will speak to one of our senior solutions
advisors who will assess their financial situation, and then guide them through the application
process. In order to proceed, we need details of the client's debts; that is, how much money
they owe, who they owe the money to, and how much they can realistically afford to pay
back each month. It's more difficult to help people with their debt problem when they have
little or no disposable income left over each month.
When we cannot help people with their debt problems, we normally refer them on to organizations
like Step Change or the Money Advice Service. Once someone has contacted us with their debt
problem, we can normally help them immediately.
People who are struggling with their debts can call us on our free phone number, they
can email us, or they can visit our website.
