The end of the semester can only mean one thing: time for students to sell back their
textbooks. Now just where can students sell back their books?
"Usually the Union, but more recently Chapman's or Sarge's."
The University Union is still a popular place for students to go and sell back their textbooks,
but they are facing stiff competition from off-campus stores, like Sarge's and Chapman's.
"Pretty much the same as the Union, maybe $5 or $10 more."
"They give me the most money opposed to the Union and places like that."
Other students like to shop around and see which store can give them the best deal.
"They usually give me a lot more than the bookstore does. But sometimes I make my rounds
so I go to the bookstore first to see how much they're willing to give me back. Then
I go to Chapman's and Sarge's and then I figure out who'll give me the most back."
Selling your books back online to sites like Chegg and Amazon are also pretty popular,
but some students still have their reserves to selling books online.
"What if they just don't pay and I send it beforehand?"
"You don't know these people. They could seem like a good individual, then they don't pay
you and your book's gone."
And if the thought of selling your book online to a complete stranger still frightens you,
you can also sell your book to other students on campus.
"Sell it back to freshmen who are going to need it next year, and technically I'll be
doing them a deed because instead of selling it to them for like $60, I can sell it to
them for like $30, and it's still more than I'd get back at the bookstore."
