So, I just had the chance to walk through the Mbagathi District Hospital and a wonderful
program that is called 'Afya,' which means 'Health' in Kiswahili. And, it's an outstanding
program; they see almost 9800 ***-positive patients and provide a full range of medical
care, anti-retroviral treatment, counseling, social support, uh, and even family planning
services and nutrition sevices. And, really what's incredible is when you meet the patients
and you see how they come together to support each other, uh, and when they tell you how
support from the American people has helped them not only stay alive, but live a positive
life and live one with a great deal of pride in themselves and in their community. And,
it's just so inspiring. And so, I want to give a special shout-out to all the kids that
were here, the ***-positive children, that are a real inspiration. Each of them has a
hero book, uh, for themselves to keep them going and to keep them encouraging themselves
and each other. And, it's a really wonderful experience. So, it was just great and I hope
others get a chance to see the great work that is happening here.
