Hello and welcome to whimsypapermache.com, I'm Charisse and in this workshop
we are going to make the cutest snowman all from dough clay
If you have not used that recipe it is on our channel run over check it out and get back over here and lets get started.
To begin knead your dough in your hand real good to push out all the air pockets and this will help prevent cracking.
Roll your dough into a ping pong size ball to begin, you can see here from my examples, which will be the base.
From there you will make two smaller balls one for the torso and one for the head. The head will be the smallest.
To assemble them together take a little water and wet the dough, place the other ball on top and that water works like glue.
And it will hold it perfect. Once it is baked or air dried it will be perfectly connected and looks like a perfect sculpture.
We use a little water to connect the torso, head, and the little nose.
The nose is a very small tear drop shape placed on the snowman face with just a dap of water.
Buttons are a tiny pinches of dough flatted into a disk and placed on front of your snowman with a small amount of water.
I make three buttons but add more if you want.
You can add a hat, scarf, anything really. This is just to spark some creativity in you.
I reworked my nose to be a little smaller and just worked with it until it stayed in place.
I loved the way he is turning out. Once you have everything in place add a hanger.
I Use copper wire or paper clip for the hanger to hang on your tree.
Use the wire for the arms or paint these on after drying.
Once I have everything assembled I put my in the oven to bake dry, you can air dry if you like.
Bake your little snowman at 200 degrees for 120 minutes.
It must be completely dry with no soft spots. It will just take time.
After the designs are baked and cooled you are ready to paint.
You can use aluminum foil for the center of your balls and cover with clay for a second option.
Just paint your snowman anyway you like.
Varnish 2 to 3 layers to seal out moisture after you paint has dried.
After your varnish has dried your ready to add your ribbon and hang on your tree.
You can also make a snowman with a cookie cutter.
You can add things to your cookie shape, scarf, hats, nose. Be creative.
I hope you enjoyed this workshop and it sparks some creativity in you.
