An annual event that the Webster University men's basketball program has every year
is with Arc St. Louis.
Arc St. Louis is a local non-profit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities.
As part of a kick-off to Arc St. Louise's basketball season,
the men's basketball program helps teach and improve the skills of each player.
Not only does Arc St. Louis feel very appreciative towards the men's basketball program
for making this day fun and exciting for everyone,
but the coaches and the players at Webster feel that they have made an impact on the people that they have helped.
Well, they started, I think they did this from at least one year or maybe two years before I came here
and this is my eighth year here and we've done it every year.
When I first came they contacted me and wanted to know would I still be interested in doing it
and I said yes.
It's just they actually have a basketball league as one of their
enrichment activities and so they asked us if maybe
every year this kind of kicks off their basketball season before their basketball league starts.
They come over and we do some skill work and just interact with the people that are going to be playing in the league
and it's an opportunity for them to get some interaction
with the college athletes and at the same time
its as beneficial or more beneficial for our guys to get in
you know be able to help somebody.
It's very good for them to have an outing and have a day out away from their normal routines.
I think us being out here really just helps them.
Doing this really inspires you to just want to help people.
I've done this for four years now and every year I do it I just want to keep going for longer and longer.
I think they enjoy
just because I mean we're Webster University basketball team helping them out.
Also on our part too I think we really enjoy it too.
If you look around at all the faces we're smiling you know
so it's not a bad experience. I think it's a really good experience.
