Hey guys I'm Allen Rigby, a potential theater major from Bruton Alabama.
We are standing in front of the historic quad, the oldest part of Davidson's campus.
Behind me
are Eumenian and Philanthropic Halls, the original social arenas on campus.
Davidson was originally founded as an all-male agrarian college
men worked in the morning
attended class in the afternoon
and then retired to these social halls for conversation and debate in the evening
Today we keep the tradition alive through presidential debates every four years
between the young democrats and college republicans.
Behind the halls are Oak and Elm Rows, the original dormitories on campus.
These buildings now house offices as well as the Muslim prayer room.
Across the quad is Cunningham theater center.
home to Davidson's theater department.
Inside is the Ruber T. Barber theater, a rehearsal and
performance space with flexible seating for up to 175 people.
The theater department puts on two main stage productions a year, in Alvarez College Union's
Duke Family Performance Hall.
which seats 650 people.
The theater department also puts on two second stage productions, which
take place in the Ruber T. Barber theater, as well as smaller productions throughout
the year.
Non majors and majors alike are involved in all aspects of performance, design, and
production.
