The Crown has recognised the mana of the kingmaker.
The current Kingmaker, is Anaru Tamihana,
will meet regularly with Government as a representative
for the Kingitanga.
This was all confirmed at the signing of Ngati Haua's
Deed of Settlement worth $13mil at Tauwhare near Hamilton.
Ngati Haua believe that the Crown can speak directly to the kingmaker,
because he can't be separated from the Kingitanga.
In the settlement, land blocks will also be returned to Ngati Haua.
The Treaty Minister says this was one of the fastest settlements.
Ngati Haua is one of the five iwi that decided to settle their claim
outside of Waikato-Tainui's in 1995.
