- You may have seen it on store shelves and wondered
what exactly Toe Juice is
well, it was created by a Boise High School teacher
nearly 30 years ago, but just recently showed up in Walgreens' stores.
- And, despite the name,
it isn't just for feet.
Apparently, it's also cured eczema, acne.
It's been a remedy for psoriasis. Fox 12, Shayne Wells has the story.
- Royce T. Garner has been a chemistry teacher
at Boise High School for 40 years.
- He's very very,, animated.
- If you go to Boise High, you have to have him.
No question. Have to! It's a must!
If don't know Royce, you're not in the loop.
- I used to tell the same jokes I told 100 years ago.
They laugh or they think they are just stupid, but they still laugh.
- He's loved every minute of it.
And about 8 years ago when he was approached about selling Toe Juice,
a concoction he came up with, that seems to cure most skin ailments.
He said "No Thanks!"
- I like teaching. I'm not a business guy.
- Garner created Toe Juice in the early 70s to treat his son's athlete's foot.
- I put the stuff together and had no clue whether it would work.
- It did.
And since then, he's produced it in small quantities for his friends and family.
- I grew up using it and totally took it for granted.
I didn't know of other products because for the most part,
just about any skin ailment we had we just applied Toe Juice to it.
Rhett realized that this product needed to be on store shelves
and encouraged his Dad to let him and his brother market it.
After 2 years of persuading, Royce finally conceded.
And on January 1st, it hit store shelves in eastern Idaho.
- Since that time, we've added all the Walgreens in Idaho.
A few Walgreens in Utah, and in fact, by the middle of the month,
middle of October, we will have it in the entire state of Utah and the entire state of Oregon,
and southern Washington.
- Although the immediately success came as a bit of a surprise to the Garners.
The back lash due to the products name, didn't.
- They think it really sounds gross.
To me, it doesn't. Sounds like Toe Juice
- A name fitting for its original purpose.
In a name they say, won't change any time soon.
- We don't find it a disgusting name.
It's like Royce, he tells it as it is.
- Alright, well due to its success,
the President of the company says they are getting ready to launch
three more products.
A facial cleanser, body wash with acne fighting capabilities,
and Toe Juice in a gel form.
It should be on store shelves by January 1st.
