High atop a craggy cliff
guarded by an army of fierce warriors,
stands the fortress of the evil warlord "Akuma"
Deep within his palace,
Akuma gloats over his lovely captive "Mariko"
Three suitors set forth to rescue her
The first is her True Love, the second a righteous Monk, the third a loyal Brute
Only one can succeed
This is the way of the Karateka
So hurriedly, a yellow hawk is flying from somewhere and straight to the palace of the Warlord
Mariko had been held captive here for quite long time
She disgusted this villain warlord, waiting for someone to stop him and rescue her
I'm Kridkorn the CC scriptwriter, and this is "The New Karateka: The Quadrilogy"
No Black-Belt required!
And the game starts with Mariko's true loved one
This stone port road with 3 opponents is "The Tutorial Zone"
Every player must take some "Weaponless" combat practice, and blockings
Then here's how to gain strength, by the "Extracts" from Mariko's flowers
Back at palace hall, Akuma is now ordering three trusted fierce men to stop the trespassers
The one that acknowledged to go first is the first true boss
Most of characters have voice but not to speak in words
Mariko begins to get the feeling that someone is coming for her
Moment of truth, matter of life or death begins now
Multiple blocks for multiple attacks practice
And now the practice for unleash the inner "Chi"
Stun the opponent, and immediately make "6 hits" attack, as brute as can
And here's the real 6th hit with inner "Chi" powered, but sometimes may not happen
Learn the move of opponent and let the music note sounds tell the player if the opponent will attack with 1, 2, 3, and so on
Damaged by opponents will minus out the score
With score bonus from different checkpoints as player made it
And character's score bonus for each ones, highest rate for "True Love" than others
The first brute looking opponent (shirtless)
Some fights will be in 2 halves
Made it to the second half, and health strength regenerates (for some)
Now let's waste no more time!
Still more of opponents ahead
To learn to "block three times", it has to take time, of course
Do the "Perfect Fight", and the score from each opponent will remain full to get
Block from "fast attack launch" practice
Hawk attack? Do as the screen said
Block the crash flight, and learn to do 2 ways to attack it back
And so they are "Heavy" one, and "Light" one
Made it gone, for now
Now unlike the previous moment, this opponent is now "Drunken-aid"
Opponents from now will be with longer health length
And player may not attack back for 4 hits (unless player can invent something)
Fought well, and the inner "Chi" in the builder grows
"Knock Three Times" VS "Knock Nine Times"
Only with this recent opponent, "Block Three Times", then "Knock Nine Times"
First true boss approaches
Danger health status indicates as player remained only 3 health strength blocks or less
Always be persistently to struggle, even with very few health strength
One down, two and a hawk to go
Back in the hall again, bad guys may already acknowledged for one man down
Each ones are fierce and brutal, player must find a way to win them
Then a head-to-head with Warlord Akuma can begin
And this "only way" of Karateka won't be a wrong way
An opponent with faster single attack hit
This opponent performs "5 palms of pain"
Needed some time to block that perfectly
Why fear the move of opponent?
While one will stand, another must fall
This opponent comes with "Counter"
Player will have no choice but to block the attack as the hit comes
And may needed some time to learn his moves
And here's how Akuma's Hawk make "crash flight" damage to player
Looks like Mariko's loved one cannot go on!
And so a monk with calm-minded and righteous arrives the scene
Arrived here with same purpose as the first protagonist
And so the fight can be continued
With longer health strength length, more damage rate, and self regenerate for both health and inner "Chi"
Such a beautiful apologize from monk after this fight is done
Monk VS Monk
The opponent monk will let the player (as monk) pass if fought well
It's time now to meet the second boss
Defeat granted for him, or maybe not...
Try to find a way to invent a "4 hit" attack to the high class guards
The "quickest yet attack launch" opponent
Late block (with hawk) can make a mistake for player
An opponent with his way of attack that can mess to the nerves of players
By the way it's done now, flawless
With upcoming 4 high class guards in black, patience may be the best key for this
Now for third and fourth ones
Say again, patience is needed to win those two
Patience can lead to Perfect Fight
And that's also a demonstration of monk's inner "Chi" powered attack
Three fierce opponents awaiting at the grand courtyard before their employer and his hawk
Among them is the third of the three bosses
And this one is an homage to the classic final boss (maybe of Nintendo Game Boy version)
Let the pain and torment begin!
The weakest one falls
The next one is one with homage
Stronger one makes a loser face his fate
But game not over yet!
Because the third protagonist arrives here as well
Now to the cue of the third "chain" boss
As of his appearance, his belly can assist for blockings
And with largest damage rate as he can do, definitely higher than two others
"Someone your own size!"
Almost forgot that hawk is not dead yet
Obviously, his IQ may lower than other two
Why fear? Even got damaged
And so the loyal brute enters the palace like without hesitate
Now the Warlord Akuma without hawk stands ready for one last fight
Now here's my opinion about the loyal brute
His two hugh arms and belly may tough enough to block
But with him, I always feel heavy to press D on keyboard for block
Anyway, his "Mightiest" can shorten the seconds of the fight
Up to our current hero now!
And I did some Brujo to send him neutral for good
And so the evildoer falls at last
Why shouldn't one remaining hero get what he deserved
And yet, maiden Mariko still thinking of the only one in her heart
Where is he? Why isn't he here?
And here's "How does the maiden feel" to be rescued by a brute man
It's now time to reveal the real purpose of this vid
We actually want all 3 protagonists appear in the scene, and demonstrate their "winning" fights with different bosses
Despite knowing it's not a perfect end at the end
But all this is what we want to present here, for now
Only then can end the first part of this Karateka Quadrilogy
Watch this space for three more to come
To be continued...
And thank you, Jordan Mechner!
