The Aston Martin IT Department that I came into was one that offered support
and what I needed to do was change that to an IT Department
that actually offered something more than that,
it offered advice, it offered strategy, it offered innovation.
What we wanted was a single vendor
who could provide all of the tools that we needed
across our complete infrastructure.
At that time, Cloud started to become very prevalent.
Aston Martin needed to start developing strategic partnerships.
Microsoft were a very key partner for that.
What we can now offer is that service to the organization to say:
"What is it that you want to do and we will help you innovate."
What the Microsoft Cloud OS vision allows me to do
is offer them slicker, quicker, faster ways of doing what they want to do
and doing it very, very well.
Successfully deploying Office 365 gave us the confidence
to explore some of the other new Microsoft products,
which are Cloud based.
We moved our website to Azure - fantastic support, fantastic solution
and we're looking at moving more out to the Azure Cloud.
What I want to do with Azure, what I want to do with Office 365,
what I want to do with Intune
is to enable the decisions-makers to make their decisions and make them quickly
and make them with the right information in their pockets.
We have more of a hybrid solution, so we do have a lot out in the cloud now
but we do have to look after what is actually within our own premise.
Management of cross-platform dependencies is now starting to grow as well.
So the Cloud OS is going to allow us to develop not only our internal cloud environment,
but also to be able to push into a hybrid
for business continuity, disaster recovery and so on.
The hybrid strategy that we are implementing now
is going to give us the best solution for the business.
Windows Server allows us to focus less on the infrastructure
and more on the strategic needs of the company.
What I want is for those individuals who are at that board level,
to have the ability to make their decisions
to surface the information they want.
We have delivered that within Aston Martin,
we will continue to do that by using the Microsoft offering.
What really drives me as the Head of IT for Aston Martin
is what comes out of the door every single day.
We produce absolutely stunning and beautiful cars
that are revered across the globe.
If we can improve that and increase the decision-making,
why would I not be happy doing what I am doing?
