Is it okay to give your dog milk? My cat loves it, and the dog keeps trying to drink what
the cat does.
Well, I guess it is a little better than trying to eat the cat’s poop, but not by much.
Dogs are mammals, and they drink milk.
Mammals typically only make the enzymes to break down milk up to the age where they stop
nursing. Dogs don’t have that enzyme once they are grown.
What happens if the dog drinks milk?
If it is a puppy, not much, since cow’s milk is intended for young cows and people
can drink it. As an adult, the dog could end up with diarrhea.
Our vet said you can put pills for a dog in a *** of cheese. That’s dairy.
The way cheese is made breaks down the lactose. That’s why people who would get sick if
they drank a glass of milk can still eat a cheese pizza.
I’ve seen other dogs drink milk without a problem.
Tolerance varies between dogs. And symptoms vary based on how much the dog eats.
So a small taste of the cat’s milk won’t hurt, but eating the glob of ice cream that
fell on the floor could make him sick.
And then you’re crying as you clean up the mess along with your child whose ice cream
just got eaten by the dog.
I need to tell my kids that milk chocolate is just as bad for the dog as regular chocolate,
though for different reasons.
Chocolate has stimulants that can cause heart rhythm problems for a dog, which is far worse
than the digestive upset milk causes.
They’ll stop trying to bribe the dog with it if I tell them it could kill the pet.
Depends on how much doom and gloom you already threaten them with, and whether they believe
you. Just tell them if they give the dog any more milk, they’ll never get ice cream again.
Or just make them clean up the barf every time. That’ll teach them more than anything.
