Know thy target audience
the cool thing about social media
and this is what I think I find most exciting
you can
microtarget
your message to the audience. It's the opposite of - remember what I was saying of the old - old - I'm gonna say old because it is old
The old marketing approach where you say your message and you send it out
it's got to cover this huge spectrum of people
this you can actually target your message
to specific - if you want to reach somebody, a mommy blogger who's
between the ages of twenty and thirty and has two kids, you can reach them
but if you don't know who you're reaching
you can't target your content and once again going back to that thing it's what do they
want to hear
so once again this is one thing we find lots of times where people are like
"well this is very broad". or "we'll figure it out". don't even start. if you don't have
these two
don't start
because you will be spending a lot of time
guessing
doing things that maybe you can't. the other advantage about having these
in advance is you have something to refer back to so within your organization
if anybody questions, "why did you do that?"
you've got these filters to point back toward so these are absolutely
absolutely crucial
