CBT Technology is located in the coastal city of Xiamen in southern China. Xiamen is a 1
hour flight from the major electronics region in China Including Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Shanghai
, and Taipei. Xiamen is a city of 2.4 million people and is home to several major universities
as well as a diverse industrial base. It was deemed a special economic zone in 1980.
CBT's focus is on excellence in quality, efficiency, service, and technology. CBT Xiamen is the
primary sales, service and support center for CBT?s Asia Pacific customers including
many of the worlds' largest contract equipment manufacturers who support our end OEM customers.
To fully support our customers - we provide a full range of services including program
management, order management, VMI (vendor managed inventory), and logistics support.
Operational support functions such as supply management and quality management are also
key parts of the Xiamen team. CBT Xiamen also provides a wide range of technical
services including: design, CAD, and application engineering. Our goal is to be able to work
with customers to address design, and manufacturability questions in a timely and effective manner.
From the product perspective, Xiamen's core competencies include extruded front panels,
extractors, and custom extrusions. Throughout manufacturing, quality is priority one and
the first bullet in our QUEST for excellence initiative. Xiamen consistently demonstrates
low PPM defect rates, generally close to 1,000. Quality is further demonstrated by our long
term strong records with top tier Global OEM?s. A quality mindset is evident in the quality
of product, qualify of documentation, quality of service and quality of processes.
As we step through the operational capabilities in Xiamen, efficiency and Lean are the focus
for continuous improvement at every step. Kaizans are mainstay of our Lean efforts,
and in 2011 more than 200 quick Kaizans were conducted-effectively improving quality and
throughput. The first step in the manufacturing flow is
generally the punch and countersink area. CNC is up next. We have 10 CNC machines, mostly
Robodrives, generally running 24/7, with a high spindle uptime of 80%+ and spindle speeds
of generally in the 15,000 RPM range. At CNC - customer specific cutouts are added to a
wide range of parts including extrusions, sheet metal, and die cast parts.
For high volume requirements, inline punching is used as an alternative to CNC to increase
throughput. At inline, the blank is cut and I/O cutouts are added. Typical throughput
is up to 70 parts per hour. After CNC or inline, the next step is surface
preparation, including graining and polishing. We have developed innovative equipment for
automatic polishing to improve throughput and consistency.
Next is finishing which can include processes such as plating, powder coating, or anodizing.
Final assembly and kitting complete the process. Here a wide range of components are assembled
including hardware, panels, extractors, light pipes, connector housings, and overlays. Great
care is taken to insure consistency in the process. This includes the use of automatic
screw drivers, calibrated for specific torque settings.
A number of components, including card guides and extractors, also require tumbling or deburring.
This is particularly true for die cast parts. Finally, the products move to packaging and
logistics where they are shipped globally. Customer service is always a priority and
once a product ships, customer service provides detailed information regarding delivery, freight
charges, VAT, and other customer issues. From Start to Finish - CBT Xiamen?s employees
are focused on our Quest for Excellence- through Quality, Efficiency, Service, and Technology.
