Leonidas Spartan Legacy 1/4 Scale Statue Arh 300 Statue Base Episode #300

Next! What about you? No willy again!? There's no Sparta without ***! Everybody knows that. How am I supposed to do it? Only girls this year. Terrible. Catch! Today, in our 300th episode, we look at the 300's King Leonidas who is conceived as tribute to Sparta, and made by ARH. Welcome. The box you receive is sadly not attractive at all. and ARH made it look very cheap. Fortunately, the contents managed to balance it out. but regarding the packaging don't expect anything special. Simply two brown shippers with polysterene inside. However, the positive thing is, the statue shouldn't arrive damaged. The individual parts are well packaged, and even though the statue comprises of quite a few bits and pieces, the collectors do not report many broken statues. Overall, we grant favourable rating, with only downside being the absence of any art design on the box. ARH should improve that. Leonidas has really a great pose. We like it very much. His pose is pretty much iconic... It is in sync with the tribute to Sparta and 300. His elevated knee stride and the leaning shield look fantastic. You see that even the cape is battle-damaged, and his helmet features rich details and when you look closely, that this statue has... ...a reasonably well done portrait. Including his armour... ...leather skirt looking realistic even thought it's sculpted resin. The base, as we are used to with ARH, looks like made of plastic material ...but the thing is, ARH uses a different kind of resin, that's why with their statues you mostly have the feeling that bases look more plastic then with Sideshow. Nonetheless, we have to be positive about the sculpt and pose. An we think it came out well. We need to be more critical with paint application. Here are several reasons... Have a look at the base. The details should have been greater. Even though you see the different stones on the rocky surface, the difference among colours is within scope of 2-3 shades, and the base could have been much more detailed. Now let's look at the feet... ...you see that Leonidas' toenails don't feature much detail. Overall great is the armor and the shield. The patina is portrayed very well. The bronze finish looks very decent. The color shifts into this sort of greenish hue. And from the pieces we were able to see in comparison with the previous statues that ARH released, in this instance, the armor looks stunning. Now what we really disliked... ...is the headsculpt. We need to criticise the eyes. which were not painted well and the retinas make him looke cross-eyed. Many collectors have the paint app very similar like this and when you look closely Leonidas seems a little lazy-eyed. More or less, depending on your luck. This shouldn't be common practice with portraits. and we view it as a defect of the piece. Fortunately, thanks to the helmet, and in the overall look, it does not matter too much after all. Maybe because of the helmet he looks through, The nose protector... At first sight, you might not see it. Only when looking closely. But the detail of beard, and... ...the crest on the top of the helmet should have had more details. They could have done a better job. The cape... The shading is done very well. We like it. And previously mentioned... ...leather skirt also with decent detail. ...and one more thing concerning the details, I need to mention this... The spearhead.... Both tips of the spear. We need to be very critital and negative, because the tips are not secure on the staff, and they keep falling off. You need to pull the staff through the hand. I mean the wood, the center of the spear. and attach the tips to the ends. They do not keep in place. That's... ...really... ...a great big hassle, as you can see. This happens all the time. You don't buy statues to have it demaged soon after, only because of poorly thought detail. I'll try to put it on one more time... You see, it's a disaster. A substantial detail. That very much matters. I don't have the nerves to keep doing it. When you need to reattach the tips 20 times, you really get pissed off by it, and you want to throw the spear as far as possible. Please, ARH, next time, Think of a solution. Add a screw, or a magnet, there are many possibilities how to solve it. So, paint and detail, we can't grant a good score. Unfortunately. The price of Leonidas is 465 USD. In our opinion, such price is a little too high. And if ARH wants to keep asking these prices, they should improve not only on the art box, but also on details of the statue. As I previously mentioned... The spearheads keep falling off... ...that's bad. Cross-eyed expression in face, or lacking details on feet and the base. All these could be far better. So either make it better... ...to balance the price/performance ratio, ...or the price they are asking for... ...should be lower. Leonidas Spartan Legacy is limited to only 450 pieces worldwide in regular version. The exclusive version has 100 pieces worldwide. It features a bonus arm for attaching the shield. And a second portrait with the helmet. We have here the regular version. But speaking about invesment, we think because it's 300 and a very successful movie franchise, that spawned a sequel, so in terms of invested money, it's an interesting purchase. Even if the price is rather high, and the statue itself is quite flawed, and ill-conceived details. However, it is still applicable that Leonidas climbed up in his value in past. We assume the same with this limited statue. Which is, paradoxically, the best iteration so far. Thank you for watching the Statue Base review show.
