Hi, how's it going everyone? Myles here for another internet marketing lab video.
In this video I want to test out a certain technique for Google Places listings. Now
if you're unfamiliar with what Google Places listings are, which if you're familiar with
Internet marketing you should know what it is, but just in case you are not familiar
with it, normally when you conduct a search you're going to find paid ads as you see here,
and you're going to find organic listings, natural listings that are not paid for, and
then you're going to see these reverse tear drop icons and these are the Google Places
listings.
These are local search results. And this case study is going to be about building links
to these Google Place listings to see whether or not building links to the listing pages,
the actual place pages, help the rankings- help increase rankings.
So what I'm going to do is take three Google Places listings, one for san diego event photographer,
another one for san diego maid service, and another one for san diego dermatologist, and
build links to each one of these Google Places pages, and see after two, three weeks, and
four weeks if the rankings go higher.
I'm not going to do any other optimization I'm just going to build links. To vary things
up, I'm also going to choose different links for each particular places page.
So for instance, for san diego event photographer, I'm going to scroll down and you'll see that
the listing that I'm going to work with is San Diego Event Photography Pros, and I'm
going to build links to this particular page, what you see here on your screen right now,
and I'm going to use a certain type of link.
Then for san diego maid service, I'm going to do the same thing, I'm going to find it
here, it's in position four. I'm going to build links, a different type of link, to
this particular page and see if it makes any difference after two week, three weeks, and
four weeks.
Then the last case study, the last situation, will be for san diego dermatologist. And I'm
going to find out if building a different type of link will increase it from position
three to maybe position two or position one.
So that's going to be the Internet marketing lab for, the next Internet marketing lab and
we're going to see if links, and specific types of links, have an effect on Google Places
pages.
Now the reason why I'm doing this is there are a lot of local search marketing experts
who say that it doesn't have any effect. However, I've done it on a number of different occasions
for my own places pages and I did see an effect.
So, just to be sure, I want to give this another try. Try three different Google Places pages,
Places listings, and see what happens after a few weeks.
That's the next Internet marketing lab and I'll keep you updated with what happens.
