You're watching HowToPlayAnySong.com. My name is Joe Wiles with the Rock 'N Roll Conservatory
and in this video tutorial we're going to learn how to play a simple version of Happy
Birthday.
Now the weird thing about Happy Birthday is even though you won't hear it on the radio,
you won't hear in film and you won't hear sung in a restaurant, it's the most famous
song ever written in the last hundred years. Now, we're going to learned the basic chords
in this video as well as the basic melody. Let's get started.
We're going to learn Happy Birthday in the key of G. Three chords you're going have
to know are G major, C major and D major. Those chords look like this.
You're going to put your index finger on the 2nd fret of the A string, your middle
finger on the 3rd fret of the low E string. You're going to put your ring finger on the
3rd fret of the B string and your pinky on the 3rd fret of the high E string. Sounds
like this. That's a G major Chord. The next one is a C major chord. You're going
to take your index finger, put it on the 1st fret of the B string. Your middle finger,
put it on the 2nd fret of the D and your ring finger on the 3rd fret of the A. This one
we'll only strum from the A string down. It sounds like this.
The last one we need to know is a D major. It's an open D string, 2nd fret of the G
with your index finger, 2nd fret of the high E with your middle finger and 3rd fret of
the B with your ring finger. It sounds like this from the D string down, and those are
the three chords you need to know. All right to play along we'll start with
a G major chord and I'll just count the count, the song is in 3/4 time. It starts out like
this, one two, three, one, two, three, to a D chord, two, three. Strum it again, one,
two, three, back to a G chord, one, two, three. From the G chord again, one, two, three, to
a C chord, one, two, three, back to a G chord, D, G. This is what that sounds like without
my annoying voice involved, here it goes.
Thanks so much for watching I hope I helped out and make sure to click the button to request
