It's important to know that even though we have the wonderful communities of
built in Boston,
Curry's reach expands well beyond that, it's literally international.
Our students have traveled to China,
to India,
to Hollywood
to Washington D.C., in the past twelve months.
All to
enrich the learning experience that they've had in our
classrooms to supplement it and to broaden their horizons.
We very much encourage our students to do Study Abroad, our most popular
destination right now is New Zealand, Australia, that area, but
we think it's important for students to understand what's happening in
the world today, and
what better way than to go and experience it yourelf.
In the fall of
2005,
I proposed to organize a
trip to China for Curry College students.
So I worked with the department of Political Science and History, the
Nursing department, and the Dean's office.
We offered two courses in China. One is called China
tradition and change. Another one is Chinese Medicine History.
So we visited museums and
hospitals in China,
and the nursing students had meetings and
conversations with the chinese nursing students, nursing faculty,
and education departments;
and also in the Chinese hospital we saw their ER
ER, and we saw
their ICU room
and the students compared our
ICU room here like
Boston Hospital, and the
friendship hospital in China, and
it's a tremendous experience for everyone.
Due to the high demand
we organized a second China trip, which took place in
May 2008,
and we went to the Great Wall,
and we went to Summer Palace, and we went to Beijing and Shanghai, and Shian.
