My name is Stephen Verigood, I’m a Penn State student with the World Campus. I’m
a student blogger and I want to share with you some of my experiences about being a Penn
State World Campus student. First off I want to share with you that I am deaf. I wear what
they call a cochlear implant, which is, if you can see it, it’s on my head right here,
and it’s hooked up to a magnet on the top of my head.
However, I do not let that bother or interfere with my education because if you read my last
post, Penn State has the Office for Disability Services, which will help those people with
disabilities to get the help that they need for their education at Penn State.
A couple of weeks ago on Facebook, Penn State asked, the World Campus asked to share with
students what is the colorful object on your desk, you know, to help you stay motivated
while you’re doing coursework so I’m going to use this video post right here to show
you some of mine. If you look, take a look over here, as you
can see I have a collection of Penn State stuff. I have my own coffee mug, my Penn State
scented candle which is always with vanilla. It smells really good, if you want one you
need to get one. My wife got me the Penn State zip drive, it’s actually got my coursework
on, it makes it easier to follow up. Then I have an old style coffee mug here, with
the Penn State Beaver Stadium football. And of course as you can see behind me, my
flag. I also have a couple of little things going around, but I can’t move my camera
around. So there you see everything I have in my office that keeps me grounded and it
keeps me motivated to graduate. One thing I want to leave you with is if you
can, I would suggest you should join the Penn State World Campus Blue and White Society.
It’s not that expensive, fifteen bucks a year, not bad. For more information go onto
the Penn State Facebook page it will show you how to join that. Also, you get some cool
t-shirts like the one that I am wearing now. Our Blue and White Society for the World Campus
students, like the Alumni Association, gives you the Penn Stater magazine, you get a lot
of good stuff for being a member of that. So that’s it for this week and I hope to
hear from you about what you have on your desk to keep you motivated, and I hope to
hear some comments, and follow me on my Twitter, and find me on Facebook and share with me
some of your experiences with World Campus. Alright, have a good one.
