Now we're going to take an in depth look at the bass and the snare part. Before we even
play that, I want to really explain the importance of the bass and the snare. Really, the quintessential
part of the drum set is the bass, the snare and the high hat. The bass and the snare is
really what keeps that groove going and you can really hear that through any tone that
really has this hip hop beat. It's really the conversation between the bass and the
snare that feeds the bass line, what the vocalist is doing, how the instruments are playing,
it's what gives it that drive behind everything. The more you get that down and the more steady
it is, the better. If you play that loose it's just going to sound terrible so you want
to really have that rhythm there (playing drums). We're going to take a look at the
beat we're actually playing in the next clip but I just wanted to really illiterate how
important these two parts are in the drum set and how you should approach them with
such care and really make sure that they're always in that pulse, in the beat, as you
play your drum and your snare.
